LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - A film apparently taken by the U.S. Marines in Asadabad, Afghanistan shows a triangular-shaped UFO attacking what is reported to be a Taliban position to their front. The mysterious craft moves slowly though the sky while firing at targets on the ground. Several explosions result and the craft is lost behind the smoke.

Close up enhancements of the video reveal the craft it triangular in shape.

Although many speculate it is a drone, possibly a UAV X-47B, because of its shape, its low speed seems to rule that out. In fact, the craft appears capable of practically hovering, which is inconsistent with the X-47B.

Speculation on the internet already suggests the obvious, that it is an alien craft, however the technology, although impressive, does not appear extra-terrestrial. For example, the twinkle of gunfire is visible as the craft shoots at a ground target. This suggests a conventional cannon is being used to strafe a target.

The explosions seen in the video are probably secondary explosions as Taliban ordinance is ignited.

There is also the possibility that the aircraft is a harrier-type jet capable of hovering while attacking a target, however the AV8B does not have a delta shape and the F-35 is not in service yet. In fact, no publicly-known aircraft seems to properly fit what is observed in the video.

It is also very possible the video is a hoax with the bizarre craft edited into the video by digital means.

What we are likely seeing is a previously-unpublicized drone capable of slow flight or even hovering, deployed in a combat capacity. The drone is likely armed with a cannon which can be used to support ground forces.

The marines did not express much surprise at the appearance and intervention of the craft suggesting they probably knew what it was and expected it.

For the rest of us, the video remains a source of mystery and speculation.
