LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) -- The bill submitted by Rep. Mo Brooks is simple.

"Effective as of Dec. 31, 2017, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is repealed, and the provisions of law amended or repealed by such Act are restored or revived as if such Act had not been enacted," the bill states.

Brooks calls the bill the "Obamacare Repeal Act."

Brooks was opposed to Trump's repeal of Obamacare, which would have left many of the onerous provisions of Obamacare in place.

Most Americans seem to want a repeal of Obamacare, but they want a workable plan to replace it. Presently, such a plan has not been proposed. Brooks' bill would restore healthcare to what it was before Obamacare was passed.

The bill is unlikely to pass, or even leave committee. However, it is a nudge to fellow Republicans they should not quit the fight to repeal Obamacare, an expensive plan, designed to fail.

Many Americans want a defunding of Planned Parenthood, they want increased competition between insurance companies which could lower prices and allow shopping across state lines, and they want to buy medications from cheaper sources. There are also some provisions of Obamacare they like, such as the fact they cannot be dropped from insurance or refused coverage for pre-existing conditions.

Americans pay more for healthcare than people in any other country. And while the quality of care is quite good, it is also very expensive, and there appears to be little value added in proportion to costs. This is because the competition is lacking, and the government regulates and subsidizes the industry. Such interference in the market raises prices.

The government is the cause of the high prices and proposes to serve as the cure. But the best way to cure the problem is to eliminate the underlying cause --which is government micromanagement.
