Tom Price appointed as new HHS Secretary - Here's why this is a major victory for PRO-LIFE!

It's time to make life a priority again.

In a victory for life, the Senate confirmed Tom Price (R-GA), early Friday morning as the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Price is a pro-life advocate and his appointment will help to promote a culture of life in our healthcare system.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) -- Christians are rejoicing this morning as the Senate appointed Tom Price as the new Secretary of Health and Human Services this morning. The vote was along party lines, 52-47.

Tom Price is a former orthopedic surgeon, and has served six terms as a member of the house.

Price has a strong pro-life perspective. He is also committed to repeal Obamacare which has been used to deny religious freedom to many people and their organizations. He has also committed himself to fiscal responsibility and has been labeled a "budget hawk."

If Obamacare is repealed, it will be replaced. Under Price, the replacement could feature a voucher program where people could purchase a private plan that competes with Medicare using a "premium voucher." Such a plan would give people more choice. Price is also committed to universal coverage, and "keeping patients at the center of healthcare."

Tax credits and tax-advantaged health savings accounts would also help people to buy their own insurance.

Perhaps one of the most important decisions will be how to address Planned Parenthood. Price supports defunding the organization. This would be a controversial move, but it would protect millions of Americans from participating in what they sincerely believe is abhorrent behavior. Planned Parenthood provides abortions, and it is partially funded by the government. This means your tax dollars pay for abortions. While Planned Parenthood claims tax money is not used to pay for abortions, money is fungible, which means that tax dollars are used to free up other money that can be used for abortions.

By defunding Planned Parenthood, the organization would be compelled to finance its activities though state contributions, donations and individual payments. Nobody who is opposed to abortion will be forced to participate, at least via their federal taxes.

The long-term result from defunding Planned Parenthood will be fewer abortions.

If America develops a culture of life, many things will change. Our way of thinking will be revolutionized. We will become a more moral, and ethical society. Life will replace money as the most important value in our society.
