By avoiding politicized briefings, Trump can focus on what's really happening in the world.

Donald Trump has not been receiving daily intelligence briefings. This has many people worried he will not make wise, informed decisions. Is Trump's decision stubborn ignorance, as the media seem to insist? Or is it genius?

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) -- There's something of a panic in the media as Donald Trump prepares to take office. He continues to shock everyone with his maverick approach, an approach that has always worked for him, and has just been hugely rewarded. In his latest shocking decision, Trump has refused his daily briefings from the intelligence community.

The intelligence community's job is to secure accurate information about the world and to pass that information on to the president. The most critical information gathered is what other actors are doing. Who is preparing for war? What are their capabilities? What are their weaknesses? What's about to happen next on the world stage? These are key questions the community is tasked with answering.

So a president who deprives themselves of this knowledge is far more likely to make a mistake.

Unless you're Donald Trump, and the people who are delivering your briefing are employees of the Obama administration.

Aside from gathering intelligence, deception is a key part of their mission. And they have done so with alacrity. The community convinced America that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction.

This is the same community that recruited Nazis after WW II, that worked with Pablo Escobar and today works with multiple drug cartels and crime syndicates around the world. These are the ones spying on Americans overseas and deploying drones to strike high-value targets in secret. The community has also aligned with Saddam Hussein and a bevy of other tin pot dictators.

It's likely that Trump is skipping the briefings because he is unlikely to be served by what Obama's intelligence community wants to give him. These agencies have become a political extension of the Obama administration, something it's prone to do under each president, then Trump is a genius to dismiss their input.

It's not that he doesn't want to make good decisions based on good information. It's that he doesn't want to make bad decisions based on politicized information.

In the meantime, Vice President-elect Mike Pence is receiving briefings and information. Pence will certainly filter to Trump anything of particular concern. There is no reason for Americans to believe that our new president will be uninformed or is making a grave error in judgement. On the contrary, he seems to be making a great decision given the reality of Obama's administration.
