An Open Letter to President Obama - Why did you give $1.7 billion to our enemies? Why did you deceive us?

Dear President Obama,

What gives you the right to give away $1.7 billion dollars in American taxpayer money, to our sworn enemy, Iran?

Previously, your administration admitted to paying $400 million to Iran in January 2016. Your administration denied this money was ransom for four hostages.

According to your administration, you paid the money to avoid some kind of international litigation in which could have cost much more. You claimed the money was owed because the U.S. reneged on an arms deal following the revolution in that country. A revolution I might add that succeeded and has always been anti-American.

Today, we are fighting two proxy wars against Iran. One in Yemen and one in Syria. Iran has also pledged to destroy Israel, our closest ally in the region.

Sending money in any amount, even a single dollar, is working against our nation, our interests and our people. It is a waste of treasure that could be better spent at home on infrastructure, education, or tax breaks for middle class taxpayers who could use the help.

Instead, we have made the hostile regime in Iran more wealthy and powerful, all for the mere pledge they will stop developing a nuclear weapon.

Let me be clear, we got nothing for our $1.7 billion, unless a pledge from a sworn enemy counts as something.

The payments you sent to Iran were dutifully handed over in January, passed through a Swiss bank like some kind of secret, corrupt transaction. Why the secrecy if the transaction were legitimate? Why the lies to the American people? The withholding of information, the distortion of truth? Why come clean after eight months have passed?

Recently, Iran has been harassing our ships in the Persian Gulf. They continue to work with North Korea, trafficking in arms. Is this what our $1.7 billion bought? Did we buy the dubious friendship of an ambitious, untrustworthy, rival?

President Obama, you and you alone are responsible for this transfer of wealth, squeezed from the American people, and hand delivered to our sworn enemy. We the People deserve justification as to why. The money you sent Iran was our money which we earned by virtue of our labor, and entrusted to you though our taxes.

We have a right to know why you made this decision.

I await your reply,

David Drudge
