'Ted Cruz didn't win Iowa, he stole it': Trump furiously rants on Twitter about Cruz's win demanding a new Iowa 'election'

''I don't like second place. I'm not a fan of second place, but I did well.''

When news of the Cruz campaign "mistake" concerning Ben Carson at the Iowa caucus reached Donald Trump, he was furious. The business tycoon took to Twitter to call for a new election or to nullify Cruz's results.

Highlights

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Despite his initial concession following the Iowa caucus results, Trump expressed a great deal of anger upon learning Cruz's people spread rumors that Ben Carson had dropped out of the race.

Trump tweeted, "Based on the fraud committed by Senator Ted Cruz during the Iowa Caucus, either a new election should take place or Cruz results [sic] nullified."

Who can blame Trump for demanding a new election? Not only does Trump deserve it, but Ben Carson does as well, though it is unlikely for Carson to pull ahead of either Trump or Cruz if his poll numbers fall in step with the pre-caucus numbers.

Within a single hour, Trump posted several tweets about his distaste with Cruz, how he didn't appreciate Cruz's team stealing Carson supporters and how the team failed to report the truth once it surfaced.

"During primetime of the Iowa Caucus, Cruz put out a release that @RealBenCarson was quitting the race, and to caucus (or vote) for Cruz," one post read. Another stated, "Many people voted for Cruz over Carson because of this Cruz fraud. Also, Cruz sent out a VOTER VIOLATION certificate to thousands of voters."

The voter violation Trump referenced was a public rebuke from the Iowa secretary of state, who reported Cruz's actions were "not in keeping in the spirit of the Iowa caucuses."

The top of the violation mailer read: "You are receiving this election notice because of low expected voter turnout in your area. Your individual voting history as well as your neighbors' are public record. Their scores are published below, and many of them will see your score as well.

"Caucus on Monday to improve your score and please encourage your neighbors to caucus as well. A follow-up notice may be issued following Monday's caucuses."

At the bottom of the mailer, the message "Voting registration and voter history records are public records distributed by the Iowa Secretary of State and/or county lection clerks."

The mailer appeared official, but Iowa Secretary of State, Paul Pate, immediately took to Facebook to say the mailer "misrepresents the role of my office, and worse, misrepresents Iowa election law. Accusing citizens of Iowa of a 'voting violation' based on Iowa Caucus participation, or lack thereof, is a false representation of an official act.

"There is no such thing as an election violation related to frequency of voting. Any insinuation or statement to the contrary is wrong and I believe it is not in keeping in the spirit of the Iowa Caucuses."

Trump continued his rampage by calling Cruz a fraud and claimed Cruz presented "A total lie!"

According to CBS News, unrepentant Cruz told CNN Trump's comments were simply one method or returning to the limelight.

"The reality hit the reality TV star in Iowa so nobody is talking about him now. So he's trying to regain some attention on Twitter."
