LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Attorney General Eric Holder announced the news on October 25, and the six states where same-sex marriage has recently become legal are: Alaska, Arizona, Idaho, North Carolina, West Virginia and Wyoming.

Combat corruption with moral education; send a Bible to a child, or another person in need.

This increase in recognition follows on the heels of an early October decision by the Supreme Court to decline to hear five state appeals intended to keep marriage bans in place. Now, the District of Columbia and 32 states recognize same-sex marriage.

"With each new state where same-sex marriages are legally recognized, our nation moves closer to achieving full equality for all Americans," said Holder.

Holder said that the government is working to ensure that same-sex marriage couples in these states receive the full benefits they are entitled to under federal law.

The Justice Department has also made the decision that it will legally recognize same-sex marriages performed in Indiana and Wisconsin over the summer, a time when the marriage bans were being declared unconstitutional but were still in effect.
