Many people STILL haven't paid their Obamacare premiums

It's estimated that 15 to 20 percent signed up for Affordable Health Care - but still haven't paid

According to Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, one of the largest participants in Obamacare, also known as Health Care Reform, reports that are all of their participants, only 80 to 85 percent paid their first month's premium in the exchanges in almost every state. This means that roughly 15 to 20 percent of those who signed up still haven't paid - ergo, which means they are not covered.

Analysts suggest that the payment rate could improve later in the enrollment window, as plans had more time to track down consumers who hadn't paid.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - These statistics, particularly from such a large carrier, shows us how many people are actually covered under the Affordable Health Care Act.

Those who have signed up for Blue Cross - henceforth known as "the Blues," is consistent with anecdotal estimates from other insurance executives. These representatives indicated earlier in the enrollment process that they received payments from about 80 percent of people who selected their plans.

Come light a candle for those who perished in the Fort Hood tragedy --

The Blues' latest estimate includes policies that took effect Feb. 1 or earlier, one spokeswoman says.

Analysts suggest that the payment rate could improve later in the enrollment window, as plans had more time to track down consumers who hadn't paid.

Wherever the final number ends up, it will be the real measure of how many people are actually covered through the Affordable Care Act's exchanges.

The Obama administration, in the meantime, has been releasing the number of people who selected a plan. The administration stops short on claiming to have accurate data on how many have actually paid. And consumers don't have coverage they can use until they make that first payment.

If the nationwide payment rate, across all carriers, remains at 80 to 85 percent, the 7.1 million sign-ups Obama announced Tuesday would translate into somewhere between 5.7 and 6 million people who are actually covered.
