Honor Among Killers: President Obama Awards Gloria Steinem Medal of Freedom

President Barack Obama has earned the reputation of being the most pro-abortion president in this nation's history

Awarding the Presidential Medal of Freedom to an unworthy recipient such as Gloria Steinem tarnishes not only the medal, but the entire country. Abortion, an unspeakable moral crime, is now a centerpiece of one of our National political parties, and a priority of our Citizen-in-Chief. The evil has become so institutionalized that its advocacy is now to be given a place of honor through the bestowal of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor.  This is not even an evil to be tolerated, but a good to be promoted.

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX (Catholic Online) - President Barack Obama has earned the reputation of being the most pro-abortion president in this nation's history. 

He has no moral scruple in advancing and protecting the right of a mother to kill her child.  Indeed, he seems to possess the perverse moral scruple of seeing it his moral obligation to advance such a palpable moral evil.  We might call him the Abortionist-in-Chief.

As part of his policy, he has seen to it that public monies be used to fund abortions, so that the killing might be publicly funded as a public good. One of the many beneficiaries of this policy is Planned Parenthood.  He is, of course, the first sitting President ever to have addressed this radical anti-life organization.

Obama sees this palpable moral evil, which the Church describes as an "abominable crime," as a good.

The belief--we must suppose sincerely held, and not merely for political expedience--is truly demonically inspired: "Evil be thou my good," in the words of the poet Milton.

In light of his support for abortion rights (which allow the privitization of killing babies in their mothers' wombs, immunity from any burden by the participants, and involves an unjust refusal of the State to use its power to protect the innocent and disenfranchised), Barack Obama's god cannot be the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  That God, revealed in Jesus Christ, is not the God of the dead, but of the living.  (Cf. Mark 12:26-27)  It is not the God, we might add, that is part of the United States' motto and is found on our coins.

So the "god" he notoriously invoked to "bless" Planned Parenthood--which slaughters approximately 300,000 Americans in its abortion mills annually--on April 26 of this year is a god of death, an atavism of Moloch.

Additionally, whatever Obama's faith might be, it is not the Gospel, for the "Gospel of life is at the heart of Jesus' message."  (Evangelium vitae, No. 1)

Jesus told his followers that there would be perverse times when people would think that the intentional killing of an innocent life, indeed a life consecrated to God, would be offering a service to God.  (Cf. John 16:2).

It seems such a time is upon us.

Abortion is no longer something foisted upon us by an unscrupulous majority--the seven "Honorable" Judicial Killers (may their names live in infamy) Blackmun, Burger, Douglas, Brennan, Steward, Marshall, and Powell--of the Supreme Court who supported the majority opinion of Roe v. Wade.

This unspeakable moral crime is now a centerpiece of one of our National political parties, and a priority of our Citizen-in-Chief.

In the name of this country, President Barack Obama intends to award the Presidential Medal of Freedom--the highest civilian award in this Nation's prizes--to the abortion activist and virulently anti-Catholic Gloria Steinem. 

This is a woman who has said such things as: "We have to abolish the institution of marriage."

This is a woman who hopes to dethrone God from public life, and wishes that Americans raise their children "to believe in human potential not God." 

This is a woman who thinks women need men about as much as fish need bicycles. 

This is a woman who believes that a "liberated woman is one who has sex before marriage." 

This is a woman who agrees with the sentiment that if men could get pregnant, abortion would be a sacrament, nothing less than a backhanded swipe against the Catholic Church.

Should we really be awarding the nation's most prestigious civilian honor to an aging atheistic, pro-abortion, and anti-Catholic misogamist and misandrist? 

President Obama states the purpose of the medal is to present "a token of our nation's gratitude."

Is our nation really grateful for Gloria Steinem?  Should it be?

Is this really what America is all about?  Is this really what we have become?

O tempora!  O mores!  What in an ordinary time would be shunned as shameful is in these extraordinarily perverse times considered worthy of a medal of honor. 

Awarding the Presidential Medal of Freedom to an unworthy recipient such as Gloria Steinem tarnishes not only the medal, but the entire country.

The day President Obama places the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Gloria Steinem, that staunch abortion activist (who is also unrepentant for an abortion of her own), will not be unlike the day the German Führer Adolf Hitler placed a similar civilian award, the Medaille für deutsche Volkspflege, around the neck of one of the chiefs of the Holocaust, Reihnard Heydrich.

"There is no president from whose hand I would be more honored to receive this than President Obama," said Steinem in her public statement. 

One can imagine Reinhard Heydrich had a similar attachment about his Führer.   I am sure that there was no Führer from whom he would rather have had his medal.

There is, it would seem, honor among killers, both in Nazi Germany in the 1930s and in the America of today.
