LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The billboard in question is situated along Interstate 35 and features a Hispanic woman, head in hand, before a Mexican flag.
On the other side of the advertisement are the words, "Undocumented Immigrant? Before You Get Deported, Get a Sugar Daddy."
The controversial ad was put up by Arrangementfinders.com, which is a site men and women go to "spend time" with each other.
Men pay a monthly fee and women join for free.
The organization has come into question before with equally horrible advertisements, one of which has a young woman applying makeup and the message, "Need a Summer Job? Date a SUGAR DADDY".
Senior Immigration specialist Thomas Esparza Jr. told Fox7 is not in the best interest of either undocumented immigrants or the men they would potentially be "dating."
"On a billboard they're encouraging people to commit a federal felony," he stated. "It's rare that you see a billboard that says, 'Commit a felony.'"
Arrangementfinders.com CMO Jacob Webster simply responded, "I think you're going to have people that are against it and then you're going to have people that are going to sign up for it."
In an attempt to assuage feelings about the billboard, Webster attempted to claim it was created specifically to start a dialogue - though his claims seem to fall short of the truth.
"It was one of those moments where it was this intersection of what's going on in society and what's going on with our site...How could we speak to this growing demographic for this site in a way where we could get the max effect?"
Esparza stated, "They could've just said, 'Commit marriage fraud, call us.'"
Webster is away people have been demanding the billboard be removed but stated: "There's no reason to take it down. There's a demand for this sort of thing, as we're getting x amount of signups due to the fact that this billboard is up."
Esparza responded: "It's insulting to foreign nationals who are in the removal process. It presumes that foreign nationals are going to commit a crime, or are more willing to commit a crime, and that they're going to go to a website to participate in committing that crime."
