LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The chain's president is a conservative Christian who previously made waves when it announced its support of traditional marriage over gay unions.
The chicken burger food chain has since been labeled as a "bigot" company and faced criticism and calls for boycotts form the LGBT community.
Despite the negative publicity, Chick-fil-A proved it was far from being a heartless when employees streamed into two nearby restaurants to open the kitchens and make chicken sandwiches and gallons of sweet tea for the blood donors lined up at the One Blood donation center.
The donors were waiting to donate blood for the victims of the shooting that took place that morning at the Pulse Nightclub, where fifty people were shot down and killed and more than fifty others were wounded.
"We love our city and love the people in our community," one employee wrote on the Chick-fil-A Facebook page.
The following day, several of the restaurants offered free chicken biscuits and orange juice to the firefighters, police officers and first responders.
According to Fox News, the chicken chain took to Facebook to say: "We are appalled by the senseless crime that was committed this weekend, but we are part of a community that stands strong and stands together."
A spokesperson from the chain's central Florida stores stated: "We are just honored to be one of many organizations that are helping our friends and neighbors in the Orlando community during this difficult time."
