LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website, April saw the apprehension of 38,135 illegal aliens over a thirty-day period.
The number of apprehensions in April this year averaged about 1,271 daily, breaking December's record of 37,014 illegals apprehended.
Of April's illegal alien apprehensions, 5,198 were unaccompanied minors.
Since October 1, 2015, the total number of unaccompanied minors that have been successfully apprehended has reached a shocking number of 32,952 children.
In April alone, 5,615 families were apprehended, which is 122 percent higher than last year and four percent higher than 2014's record-high.
The number of individual adults who were captured totals over 27,300 people and CBP estimates the numbers will continue to rise.
For 2016, the CBP reports a total of 223,900 apprehensions specifically from the Southwest U.S. border and believes others have escaped capture.
With the ongoing torrent of illegal aliens entering the United States, the Obama administration's course of action is to simply tie the hands of the CBP.
