Pro-Muhammad billboards to be put up in cities across America

The billboards aim to show the true meaning of Islam.

Campaign to spread the Islamic message of love and pro-Muhammad images on billboards was organized by a Muslim education group with plans to be posted in cities across America. While the world is being fed negative images of the religion because of the surge of violence from extremism, not just in the Middle East region, this organization aims to let people see that Islam is not how it is often illustrated.

Highlights

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - With about a hundred billboards, the Islamic Circle of North America has launched the campaign bearing positive and pro-Muhammad messages like the following: "Looking for the answers in Life? Discover Muhammad," "Kindness is a mark of faith" and "Muhammad believed in peace, social justice, women's rights."

Some of the billboards have already been posted in California, Florida and New Jersey. However, although the advertisements aim to publicly announce that Islam is a faith of love and tolerance, as well as invite people into the religion, the campaign is likely to be focused on through anti-Islamic sentiments and protests.

However, the ICNA will pursue the campaign. "We thought a proper approach would be to actually educate the larger public about his personality, which exemplifies love and brotherhood," said the organization's Deputy Secretary General, Waqas Syed, in the report published by Reuters.

This campaign is not the ICNA's first attempt to clean up the image of Islam in America. The group launched a toll-free hotline in 2011 for those who wanted to ask questions about Islam. The hotline is still present in recent ads.

In 2012, ICNA launched another campaign centered on the true meaning of "Shariah."
