BROOKLYN, NY (Catholic Online) - Schiff has used the account to tweet advance notice to the public about offenders who were about to be released from jail or prison as well as alerts regarding incidents in the area. Followers appreciated the warnings.
However, lawyers working for Legal Aid vowed to sue after learning about the account. Concerns for the privacy of released offenders and suspects were part of the reason.
For now, the public can still receive similar alerts from @NYPDNews, which is official.
