LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - David Geffen, benefactor of the UCLA School of Medicine and entertainment executive, has given the school a gift of $100 million to be spent on providing full rides to 30 incoming med school students.
The gift makes Geffen the single-largest donor to the UC system in history.
Geffen, 69, has not commented to the media, but said in a statement he is trying to encourage students to pursue medicine without fearing the expense.
Most medical students graduate with as much as an average $200,000 in debt upon graduation.
Thanks to Geffen, 30 students won't have to fear that anymore.
