Dead Baby Found in a Dumpster in New York. Mother is Charged with Self-Abortion

Not a word of sorrow about the dead baby

The reason we recoil in horror is because we all know it is wrong and, at least in this instance, it is so obvious. However, every procured abortion kills a child through the injection of poison, saline burning, the collapsing of their skull, the severing of their limbs... we just do not hear about it.

Highlights

P>CHESAPEAKE, VA (Catholic Online) - A year ago I wrote an article about the remains of seventeen babies killed by abortion found  in trash dumpster behind "Womans Choice" abortion mill in Lansing, Michigan. Under Michigan law abortion mills are allowed to dump aborted babies in the trash as long as they're dipped in formaldehyde beforehand.

This week, my friend Bill Donohue, the President of the Catholic League and a great defender of the Church, unborn life and religious freedom, wrote these words about a horrible act committed by a mother in New York

"On Tuesday evening, a New York City superintendent was gathering the garbage when he felt something strange. It was a baby. "When I found the baby," he said, "I didn't know if it was real at first. It was so bad." Not surprisingly, it made him sick. "After what happened, I just stayed in my apartment for a while because I didn't feel well."

"Two days later, a 20-year-old woman was arrested and charged with self-abortion in the first degree, a misdemeanor.

"Andrea Miller of NARAL Pro-Choice was outraged. "They have taken what should be a medical and public health matter and turned it into a criminal case," she said. Sonia Ossoria of the National Organization for Women agrees, saying, "it's absolutely outlandish to charge her with self-abortion."

"So a woman kills her own baby, and the sole source of anger coming from the pro-abortion community is that she is being prosecuted. Not a word of sorrow about the dead baby.

"In a perverse way, they may have a point: why is it criminally wrong to perform the exact same procedure that a well-paid doctor can do legally? If she is a monster, what does that make him?

"Moreover, had this same superintendent found a baby in the dumpster who had been dropped there by a Planned Parenthood worker, there would have been no prosecution.

"Those running for president should be asked about this issue. Their answers would no doubt prove to be revealing."

Bill Donohue is correct. Every candidate running for the Presidency should be asked about the duplicitous approach to the intentional killing of our first neighbors in the womb in American Law through procured abortion. This prosecution for self abortion of this mother is proper. It is horrible that such an intentional act of murdering her child is only a misdemeanor in New York.

The Associated Press, based upon a source allegedly close to the case, reported that the woman drank an herbal mix which is considered an "abortion-causing tea." Let's call the concoction what it really is, child killing poison.

That young woman killed her baby with poison. The reason we recoil in horror is because we all know it is wrong and, at leastin this instance, it is so obvious. However, every procured abortion kills a child through the injection of poison, saline burning, the collapsing of their skull, the severing of their limbs... we just do not hear about it.

The truth concerning the humanity of the child in the womb and their fundamental Human Right to be born is winning the hearts and minds of more and more people. Medical Science is now a Pro-Life ally. Sonograms showing us a film of our first neighbors in their first home in the womb have become commonplace.

We watch these children smile, play, feel pain and grow. The images are showing up on television commercials, being sent over our cell phones, blackberry devices, droids and I-Pads; a sure sign in a consumerist culture that this technology is having an effect. Only a deceived person can see that child in the womb as anything other than just that, a child, a human person, our neighbor.

Physicians are routinely operating "in utero" -to help children in need and placing them back in the first home of the womb to be delivered full term. Psychologists encourage communication between parents and their child in the womb.

Parents are playing music to children in the womb. The efforts to use dehumanizing phrases to hide the perfidy of abortion are failing. Medical science and technology confirm what our conscience told us all along, the child in the first home of the whole human race is our neighbor and it is wrong to kill innocent neighbors.

However, the evil of procured abortion is still protected by the civil law. Those who commit the horrid evil are protected by the police power of the State. There are times when the evil of procured abortion becomes obvious and the Nation is shaken. I hope this is one of those times.

Back in 2002 we witnessed the killing of Laci and Connor Peterson and called it what it was, a double homicide. In 2004 when a child was brutally removed from the womb of Bobby Jo Stinnet of Missouri by her murderer, we rejoiced when that baby was found in good health.

However, in 2005, legislation intended to protect children in the womb from criminal acts was used to shield a mother who participated in killing her own child. In Lufkin, Texas, 19 year old Gerardo Flores was convicted of two counts of murder under the Texas "Fetus Protection Law" for stomping repeatedly on the abdomen of the children's mother. She was carrying twins.

The mother was not charged in Texas even though she had asked Flores for help in the intentional killing and had started to aggressively jog and punch herself in the abdomen to cause the death of the children in her womb. She was not prosecuted because she could have obtained the same result by paying for an abortion. The implications were obvious.

The woman who Bill Donohue wrote about was named Yaribely Almonte. She is twenty years old. Her baby was placed in a yellow bucket and dumped in the trash. The child's mother is now free on her own recognizance and will appear in Court in January. What is happening to this Nation we love?
