LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - Turkish Deputy Prime Minister, Numan Kurtulus has warned that America and Russia are headed for World War III as their proxy war in Syria intensifies.

Ground zero for the proxy war between the U.S. and Russia is Aleppo where dozens of civilians have been killed in just the past day.

Aleppo has been split between rebels backed by the west and loyalists, faithful to the Assad regime. Assad is backed by Russia.

Each faction is doing their part to turn Aleppo into a living hell. Russia and the Assad regime are aiming to destroy the rebel-held quarters of the city. They are doing this by dropping bombs and artillery shells on civilian areas. The rebels, supplied by the United States, continue to fight back with small arms and high explosives.

The U.S. is demanding that Assad leave power, which is unacceptable to the Assad regime and to the Russians. This demand has set  up a clash of wills which is manifesting itself around the world.

In the Pacific, Atlantic and North Sea, Russian bombers make flights around Europe and off the American coasts. These flights are intercepted by fighters, allowing the Russians to test Allied defenses.

In the Baltic, Russian fighters buzz American ships. In Eastern Europe, Russian medium-range nuclear missiles take position.

Just as in the Cold War, one miscalculation could cause shooting to start, far beyond the control of the politicians who have brought the world to the brink. Once the shooting starts, it will take on a life of its own and may not stop until a great cost is paid.

Turkey, which is on the border with Syria and bases NATO fighters has reason to worry, they will be a target. The rest of the world should worry too. How Turkey goes, so too may go the world.
