ISIS sees itself as continuing the battle of Islam vs. Christendom.

German author Jürgen Todenhöfer spent 10 days in the Islamic State, interviewing its fighters and working to understand their aims and ambitions. What he learned will chill you to the bone and give you nightmares.

We ask you, humbly: don't scroll away.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - Jürgen Todenhöfer, an author from Germany, spent 10 days interviewing Islamic State fighters to research a book.  His goal was to obtain authentic information about the shadowy organization, as opposed to what is commonly reported in the media.

His findings were that ISIS is much stronger than what is commonly assumed. He reported that ISIS is the strongest jihadist organization he has ever encountered. Part of their strength comes from their drive to eliminate all religions, not just Judaism and Christianity, but also apostate branches of Islam. He also reported that he visited one recruiting center and saw 50 people join in a single day.

The Islamic State is also well equipped, particularly with American weapons seized from their Iraqi conquest and those taken from Syrian military installations, which they have overrun.

Todenhöfer described Al Qaeda as an "empty shell" in comparison to ISIS, a far different description than Obama's claim that ISIS is "Al Qaeda's jayvee team." The Islamic State soldiers, as he described, "Want to win and they are ready to die." This one fact makes them fight more fiercely than any they oppose.

It is also an open secret that Islamic State soldiers commonly use drugs prior to combat so they feel less pain and are stronger during the fighting. They also wear suicide belts to kill enemies in their last moment, should they be captured or overrun.

In an interview with a German Islamic State fighter, the ISIS soldier made clear that they expect to take over the entire world, not just a corner of the Middle East. They will not stop until they have achieved their goal.

The Daily Mail recently helped put the current situation into context by discussing the history of militant Islam, which dates back to the time of Mohamed in the seventh century and has focused on military expansion for much of its history.

Islam has a tradition of militant expansion. It has been halted by Christian armies, such as in the Battle of Tours in 732, and it was defeated in Spain in 1492. Despite these setbacks, Islam appears ready to try again.

The Islamic State views itself as continuing the crusades, writing the latest chapter in a centuries-old saga of Islam vs. Christianity. In a recent letter, claiming responsibility for the Nov. 13 attacks on Paris, ISIS referred to the people as "crusaders" and as "the lead carrier of the cross" in Europe.

For the fighters of the Islamic State, the crusades are back on, in full force. Their campaign isn't about destroying Israel, or living independent of foreign intervention. It's about exterminating anyone who is different in their faith, especially Christians.

In addition to threatening all of the world's religions, fellow Muslims are destined for the sword too. All except those who accept the Islamic State's interpretation of Islam will be killed. The only way to avoid the fate is to accept their version of apocalyptic, militant Islam before they arrive and take power over you. A conversion at the moment of your execution will not save you.

As the Islamic State continues its relentless march into the world, several nations have worked to contain it. Despite these efforts, it wasn't until the Russians came to the aid of Syria in November that the Islamic State's oilfields were bombed. The oilfields and refineries are known to provide the terrorist state with the majority of its operating cash, yet they have gone untouched for over a year.

Many now believe the United States is complicit in building the Islamic State, and it's difficult to ignore the evidence. Most of their equipment fell into their hands rather easily, seized from poorly guarded arsenals in Iraq. Their sources of income have never been attacked. They're active online, despite the fact most of the world's internet infrastructure is controlled by the United States. About 75 percent of all us pilots are returning to base with fully-loaded aircraft, having released none of their ordinance; they are being denied permission to strike.

The world still has no strategy to deal with ISIS. Even if their expansion is halted, it may only be for a time. Copycats and sympathizers are still ready to do mayhem in their name. President Obama either does not understand them or refuses to understand them. Most of the world does not appreciate their dedication or their goals. Few know that the leaders of ISIS subscribe to an apocalyptic cult within Islam that seeks the end of the world.

Our continued ignorance of Islam and especially of ISIS will have deadly consequences in the years to come.
