HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA (Catholic Online) - The Blaze reported McCants' explaination that "In Islamic prophecies of the end times Iraq and Syria figure very large. That's where the final battles with the infidels are supposed to take place. The Islamic State is using this material to recruit foreign fighters and they're using it to great effect."

McCants also noted why thousands of foreigners have flocked to join the Islamic State. He said, "They believe they are rebuilding God's kingdom on earth, and they're building up for a final confrontation with the infidels."

As for McCants' thoughts on the Syrian situation, he believes it would be good to arm local Sunni Arab tribes to help them protect their own people and ward off Islamic State militants. Author Joel C. Rosenberg also mentioned the Islamic State's end times beliefs, noting the greatest threat to America's security is now coming from apocalyptic Islam, which is a dangerous end-times philosophy that many world leaders don't take seriously. Rosenberg believes apocalyptic Islam has replaced radical Islam as the main security concern. He also thinks that eschatology is what motivates extremists to the unexpected. "The forces of radical Islam want to attack us, while the forces of apocalyptic Islam want to annihilate us ...  Radical Islam is like Al Qaeda, the Taliban, Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas and various terror groups [that are] trying to drive us out of the holy lands and holy places that they consider sacred to Islam," he stated. Apocalyptic Islam is entirely different from Islam, Rosenberg claimed. He explained Apocalyptic Islam is composed of groups and individuals who believe their god is coming so they must follow his will at any cost. Rosenberg explained that the Islamic messiah is at the heart of theology, and that those who are not faithful  will burn in the fires of hell. "The way to serve Mahdi (God) is to annihilate Judeo-Christian civilization, and in so doing, establish God's kingdom on earth, known as the caliphate," Rosenberg explained. He also said Iranian leaders have been promoting genocide.

Reuters reported the intensified battles between Syria and Iranian forces. A 24-year-old Iraqi Shi'ite fighter said he knew the end times were coming. "I was waiting for the day when I will fight in Syria. Thank God he chose me to be one of the Imam's soldiers."
65-year-old Abu Hsaasann, a pensioner from south Lebanon said he believed the end of days would not come for centuries, but "thinks are moving fast. I never thought that I would be living the days of the Imam. Now, with every passing day I am more and more convinced that it is only a matter of few years before he appears."

We ask you, humbly: don't scroll away.
