MUNTINLUPA CITY, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - Shubra al-Khaima, a suburban area located near Cairo, Egypt, suffered a recent car bomb attack early this week. The attack heavily damaged buildings and created a crater where the burned-out building was located remained.

The blast near the Egyptian state security building left 29 injured, including six police officers. The blast was heard across the Egyptian capital and heavily damaged the facade of the state security building. The ISIS affiliate claimed they were behind the attack.

A statement has been released via Twitter by the supporters of the group in Sinai Province. According to reports, the bomb was a reprisal for the execution of six ISIS members convicted of carrying out an attack in the Northern part of the Egyptian capital, last year.

"Let the apostates of the police and army, the followers of Jews, know we are a people who do not forget our revenge," the statement said.

Last May, Egypt executed six members of Sinai Province after they were convicted for the attack in Cairo in 2014. The men were charged with carrying out an attack to two army officers, who were killed in the Arab Sharkas village north of Cairo.

The Sinai Province has been responsible for the death of hundreds of soldiers and police since the military toppled President Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood in 2013, after a massive protest by the mass against his rule.

The aftermath of this recent attack left glass from blown-out windows scattered across the streets surrounding the security building and the courthouse. No reports on casualties were reported after the incident, but six policemen were confirmed hurt.

According to witnesses, "A man suddenly stopped his car in front of the state security building, jumped out of it and fled on a motorbike that followed the car."

Mohamed Ali, a shopkeeper who saw the man park the vehicle near the building witnessed the explosion right after he stepped away from it. The Egyptian authorities are mounting their toughest security to crackdown on the militants in the country.
