There were no casualties in the attack.

ISIS has fired high-powered rockets into an Egyptian naval patrol ship, about two miles off the coast of the northern Sinai. The patrol vessel spotted the ISIS militant fighters, leading into an exchange of fires. However, during the heated encounter between the two groups, a rocket struck the naval patrol ship causing it to burst into flames.

We ask you, humbly: don't scroll away.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - According to the Egyptian military, there were no casualties among the military men on the patrol vessel in the area between Israel and the Gaza Strip, but there were some who suffered from minor burn injuries.

The crew was rescued by other navy boats in the middle of the blaze, forcing Egypt to withdraw from the battle. Two people witnessed the eruption, an AFP photographer and a fisherman who happens to live a few miles away from the scene, according to The Daily Mail.

Ahmed Nofal, the photographer from APF, explained that they were just sitting by the beach when the ship explosion happened.

The burned vessel was a gunboat, only about a nautical mile from the coast when it was struck, said Abu Ibrahim Mohammed the fisherman who was near the Gaza Strip. He noted that he did not hear the explosion, but saw two small boats on the way to put out the fire, while a larger one came to tow the damaged boat away to the shore.

Egyptian authorities refused to confirm that the eruption was caused by high-powered rockets used by the extremist terror group. They said they are looking into various possibilities, including the theory that the militants swam onto the patrol vessel and placed explosives that are detonated by a remote control.
