LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The Ark, which was created to serve as an educational experience, was build by Johan Huibers over a period of seven years.
Huibers ensured the ark offered a petting zoo, interactive Biblical stories and a show.
Huibers felt a strong pull to take the ark on a journey across the Americas, beginning with the trip to Brazil, and the ark shipped out.
As the ark was not fitted with an engine, it required towing to its first stop - Norway.
Unfortunately, the crew towing the vessel lost control in Norway, resulting in a gaping hole in the side of the ark.
Luckily, no animals were on board at the time and no one was hurt, though there was considerable damage to both the ark and the Coast Guard vessel it collided with.
It is currently unknown how long construction will take or if the ark will continue its journey.
There has been no comment from Huibers or the towing crew.
