The Prime Minister of Poland announced the country will welcome hurting Christian families.

The massive amount of persecution against Christians in Syria has led Poland to announce they are willing to take Christian families in. To start off, the Christian nation will initially welcome 60 families, but they are open to the possibility of resettling more Syrian Christian families in the near future.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - "We'll welcome 60 families for a start. Today Christians who are being persecuted in a barbaric fashion in Syria deserve Christian countries like Poland to act fast to help them," said Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz to the Agence France-Presse.

According to the report by the Warsaw Voice, Prime Minister Kopacz suggested there is a need for the nation to reach out, as Christians, to those facing hazardous living situations in the predominantly Muslim country.

As Islamic extremists continue to wage war against other religions in the land, more and more families are being displaced and struggle with the lack of basic needs. Many Christians have already faced execution, as the militants try to expand their territories to now occupy a large portion of the country.

In an earlier report from the Associated Press, the winner of the recent Poland's presidential elections, Andrzej Duda accused the government of slow response in helping people in danger in Syria; which is speculated to have prompted the latest announcement from Prime Minister Kopacz.

Meanwhile, Estera, a Polish nonprofit group, asked the government to allow about 1,500 Christian Syrians into their country, according to the AFP. The group had also proposed that charity groups, churches and businesses fully support the cause by covering expenses.

In addition, a troop of Assyrian fighters and the Kurdish forces of the People's Protection Unit successfully liberated 14 Christian Assyrian villages in northeastern Syria from ISIS earlier this week.
