DURHAM, England (Catholic Online) - Fr. Jeffrey Steel is a priest of the Church of England with a pastoral ministry to his parish. He is also an excellent "blogmaster", offering one of the best "blogs" on the current situation in the Anglican communion and the movement toward full communion with Rome. The Blog is called "De Cura Animarum", which means "about the cure of souls". http://frjeffreysteel.blogspot.com/

Fr. Steel serves what he describes as a "traditionalist Anglo-Catholic parish in the Durham Diocese where the Rt Revd Dr. N.T. Wright is bishop. My parish is under the sacramental care of Bishop Martyn Jarrett SSC.". He is also a PhD student, focusing on historic models of authentic ecumenism with a particular emphasis on their relevance in the movement toward authentic Christian unity in our own age.

He describes his mission for his blog as providing "a source of encouragement for growth in the Catholic faith and a place where stimulating theological dialogue is able to take place." He succeeds. It is a beautifully written and aesthetically pleasing place, well worth a regular visit.

Fr. Steele, like this writer, has been closely following the story of the Traditional Anglican Communion and its overture toward the Holy See for consideration of full communion. He was one of several sources today who reported a development which, if confirmed, should be of great interest:

"There is often much going around by way of rumours and reports and I do my very best to only provide substantiated claims on this blog to the best of my ability. ... I think we all need to enter into prayer for Christians within the Anglican Communion and those who lead the Catholic Church to be wise and generous in looking for a way to realign Catholic Christendom in the West so that we can join in force against the radical secularism of our present culture.

"I have some interesting news given to me today about the TAC but I am waiting for fuller confirmation of details before much more is mentioned. What I have heard that is public is that the TAC bishops have been invited to Rome 'en masse' for Easter. More details on that to follow. I will update this post when and if any further clarification on that is given."

As I have said often, astute observers need to watch and pray.Catholic Online will keep our readers abreast of all developments. "Ut Unum Sint!"
