LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - According to The Free Beacon, Pentagon officials reported the flight test on Tuesday with independently targetable reentry vehicles (MIRVs).
Though officials did not disclose the location of the test, past launches are known to have been carried out from Wuzhai Missile and Space Test Center in China.
U.S. Strategic Command commander Adm. Cecil Haney stated China's missiles are part of their investment in nuclear and conventional forces including the "re-engineering ... long-range ballistic missiles to carry multiple nuclear warheads."
Three days after the test, Defense Secretary Ash Carter paid the aircraft carrier USS Stennis a visit as it traveled in the South China Sea, the waters China has been attempting to claim solely as its own.
The South China Sea has claimed the waters as its territory; however, the water has long been classified as free.
Beijing accused Washington of militarizing the sea when the U.S. sailed within 12 nautical miles with a warship.
Rick Fisher, a China military affair analyst, admitted China has been coordinating military forces with Russia against the United States.
Meanwhile, the United States continues to monitor China's movements.
