Husband's parents storm into home and throw acid on her

A brave Indian woman has paid a very high price in doing what she felt was right. Thirty-two-year-old Reshma Rangrez exposed her husband as a terrorist and in so doing, became a household name in Mumbai. Her bravery was severely punished after her husband's parents stormed her home and threw acid on her in a retaliatory attack.

Turning in her terrorist husband was a brave act -- but was paid for with a very heavy price.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - "My in-laws burst into the house at 3.30am with a bottle," Rangrez said. "Before I could understand what was happening, they threw acid at me. My shrieks of pain alerted my neighbors who rushed to my help."

The corrosive liquid missed her face and splashed on her arm, leaving her with serious burns, the Times of India reported.

Police have arrested father-in-law Ismail Rangrez and mother-in-law Hanifa, who are currently awaiting trial.
Rangrez, 32, from Ahmedabad, western India, notified authorities on her spouse Shehzad in 2011 after she caught him making crude bombs, apparently destined for a terror attack.

Officers found seven jars containing an unidentified liquid used in the manufacturing of explosives, some stowed in a pile of rubbish nearby.

Shehzad was caught with a crude bomb and a country-made pistol when police officials had raided the house in July of 2011. He later led detectives to seven other bombs he had made and hidden in a rubbish pile at Chandola Lake, in Ahmedabad, north of Mumbai.

Shehzad was jailed. Rangrez was singled out for her bravery and was given a large cash reward. She was even offered a job in the city traffic brigade by the city's police commissioner.

The latest incident is yet another reminder of the high cost of bravery and doing what one knows is right in a land which is steeped in injustice.
