LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Fidel Castro passed away due to unannounced causes Friday night.
In one of the past photographs of the historic leader, he is shown with the Vietnamese president, receiving a beautiful gift.
President Quang offered Castro a portrait of his younger days, back when he was believed to be a revolutionary full of promise.
During the meeting between the two leaders, they reportedly agreed to uphold their historic friendship for years to come.
Unfortunately for Castro, he did not live long enough to see much of that friendship continue.
He died at 90-years-old and Cuba commenced a nine-day mourning period.
Many acknowledge Castro's revolutionary platform but admit the changes he brought to Cuba were not all positive.
In fact. Castro was a dictator and his word was law.
Many Cubans suffered for it - though many have admitted they are heartbroken to hear he has passed.
The rest of the world has since called Castro everything from a revolutionist to a Marxist.
Meanwhile, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, the first Cuban-American elected to Congress, believes Castro's death has marked a "new chapter in the history of Cuba."
She stated: "The day that the people, both inside the island and out, have waited for has arrived: A tyrant is dead and a new beginning can dawn on the last remaining communist bastion of the Western Hemisphere."
