SANTIAGO (ACI/EWTN Noticias) - En el comunicado publicado el 2 de noviembre, se explica que tras ser aprobado por el Congreso chileno, el presidente del país Sebastián Pińera la promulgó como ley con el articulo único "declárese el 25 de marco de cada ańo como el 'Día del que está por nacer y de la adopción'".

"Promúlguese y llévese a efecto como Ley de la República", seńaló.

La norma fue aprobada de manera general el 14 de mayo, y fue ratificada por los diputados chilenos el 10 de septiembre con 59 votos a favor, 27 en contra y 2 abstenciones.

El senador del partido Unión Demócrata Independiente (UDI), Jaime Orpis, quien introdujo la moción en el Senado, donde fue aprobada de forma unánime, aseguró que el propósito de la ley es proteger la vida desde la concepción, como un punto de valor de cada sociedad, "especialmente porque se está frente a un ser en la más infinita indefensión".

Por su parte, el diputado de la Democracia Cristiana, Jorge Sabag, ha sostenido que "esta ley no es más que la consecuencia del artículo 19 de la Constitución de la República que asegura a todas las personas el derecho a la vida y que la ley protege la vida del que está por nacer."
