El Presidente de la Conferencia Episcopal de Venezuela (CEV), Mons. Diego Padrón Sánchez, celebró una Misa en Roma y pidió que se abran nuevas puertas en las relaciones entre la República Bolivariana de Venezuela y la Iglesia Católica.

CARACAS (ACI/EWTN Noticias) - La Eucaristía se celebró con motivo de la presentación de las credenciales del nuevo embajador venezolano ante la Santa Sede, Germán Mundaraín Hernández, y tuvo lugar en la Basílica Menor de San Lorenzo in Damaso.

La Misa fue concelebrada por el Obispo de Barinas, Mons. José Luis Azuaje Ayala; el Obispo de San Cristóbal, Mons. Mario del Valle Moronta Rodríguez; y el Arzobispo Auxiliar de Caracas, Mons. Jesús González de Zárate Salas.

Durante la homilía Mons. Padrón se dirigió a Mundaraín y a la delegación que lo acompańaba en Roma para recordar que la vida diplomática se fundamenta en los principios éticos y debe dar cuenta del desamparo de los pueblos y estar al servicio del hombre.

El presidente de la CEV, cedió la palabra a Mons. Moronta, quien animó a todos los venezolanos a ser hombres y mujeres de fe llevar adelante a la nación. "Que esa puerta que se abre, se siga abriendo no solo entre el estado y la Iglesia, sino entre Venezuela y el mundo", dijo Mons. Moronta.

Al terminar la celebración, Mundaraín expresó sus deseos de colaboración con la Santa Sede por el bien del pueblo venezolano.

En junio de 2012, el Nuncio Apostólico del Vaticano en Venezuela, Mons. Pietro Parolin, se reunió con el actual presidente, Nicolás Maduro, para fortalecer las relaciones con la Santa Sede.

A partir del próximo 15 de octubre Mons. Parolin comenzará una nueva labor al servicio de la Iglesia como nuevo Secretario de Estado Vaticano y del Papa Francisco, sucediendo así en el cargo al Cardenal Tarcisio Bertone.

Mons. Parolin tiene 58 ańos de edad y desde el ańo 2009 desempeńa su labor como Nuncio en Venezuela.
