Source says that two graves, one for males, the other females discovered on ranch

Twelve young people attended an after-hours club called Heavens in Mexico City in May - never to be seen again. Now, a mass grave at a ranch near the nation's capital may bring closure to a case that has baffled authorities.

Families of the missing young people took part in protests over the government's slow investigation of the case. Their search may have now have ended most unhappily.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - A ranch east of Mexico City has been swarmed by federal investigators. At least seven bodies had been found and two arrests have been made near the crime scene.

Not revealing his source, a lawyer representing the families of five of the missing told journalists that he received a telephone call from a source who said the bodies of the youths may be found there.

Attorney Ricardo Martinez said the source told him there were 13 bodies found at the ranch, possibly in two mass graves, one that held the remains of the males, and the other, the females. Mexico City's attorney general, however said there was one grave so far that was being investigated.

Mexico City residents were alarmed at the news of the apparent kidnapping of the 12 youths from the after-hours club. Mexico City has largely escaped the majority of the criminal violence that has plagued the nation during its bloody and disastrous war on the drug cartels.

Officials have not confirmed the identities of the bodies, and CNN could not independently confirm the claims of the attorney.

Martinez said that a suspect in the disappearance of the youths led authorities to the ranch. Mexico City Attorney General Rodolfo Rios said investigators were taking DNA samples to identify the remains.

The bodies were found in the town of Tlalmanalco, about 30 miles east of Mexico City, the state-run Notimex news agency reported.
Local, state and federal police were all at the scene.

A gang was involved in the mass disappearance, officials have said. The abduction at the after-hours bar jolted the capital city, as it took place in daylight on a Sunday morning.

Video footage shows a gang of about 17 people arriving in eight vehicles at the fashionable Zona Rosa district, according to authorities. The bar's owner, a co-owner and two bar employees have been arrested in the case.
