'I don't think engine overheat alone has ever caused an aircraft to crash.'

Conflicting stories have emerged concerning recently downed EgyptAir Flight 804.

While Greek officials claim the plane swerved before falling off radar, one Egyptian official claims human remains indicate an explosion, while yet another claim by Egyptian officials states the debris and remains have yet to be processed, and therefore reveal no preliminary findings.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - With all the attention Flight 804 has been receiving, it is little wonder there are several conflicting stories.

Greek officials recently shared their version of events before the aircraft fell off radar, but the preliminary report stands against new reports by Egyptian officials.

The Greek controllers claimed the plane was discovered near the island of Kea before it swerved 90 degrees left and dipped 360 degrees right before falling 15,000 feet, pausing, then plunging 10,000 feet, disappearing from radar.

Meanwhile, an AP report revealed insight from an unnamed senior Egyptian forensics official on Tuesday, who stated, "The logical explanation is that an explosion brought [the flight] down."

The official, who agreed to speak under the cover of anonymity, claims several human remains have been discovered in small pieces, which suggests an explosion may be to blame for the sudden downing of the craft.

According to Fox News, the AP report also indicated "very tiny" burn marks on a piece of an arm discovered at the crash site added to the suggestion of an explosion and that the arm "belonged to a passenger sitting next to the explosion."

According to NBC News, the official told AP: "There isn't even a whole body part, like an arm or a head. The logical explanation is that it was an explosion."

Later that same day, Egypt's Forensics Medical Department posted a message to its Facebook page, claiming previous reports "circulated wrong information," adding they were "baseless, and it is speculation that has not come from the Forensic Medical Department or any forensic doctor among its employees."

The Facebook statement continued, asking media outlets to "avoid chaos and spreading false rumors" that have ultimately damaged the "state's high interests and national security."

No statement has been released by Egyptian officials amid the plethora of speculation.
