ALGIERS, ALGERIA (Catholic Online) - This terrorist attack occurred between Timbuktu and Goundam when the convoy of Burkinabe soldiers of Minusma was attacked in an ambush. In addition to the death of seven soldiers, five others were injured. The Malian government condemned in strong words this attack, that is likely to compromise the security situation of the country.
This attack has confirmed, once again, the security in this part of Mali has not yet recovered. In this dangerous area, it is not only Aqim who perpetrates attacks; another prominent group affiliated to this nebula is announcing expansion in threats to the Ivory Coast and Mauritania.
Its preacher, Ismail al Khalil, of Malian nationality, is calling on others to carry out attacks against the state's interests who are accused of acting against the religious principles. The defenders of religion showed their readiness to carry out terrorist attacks in West African countries and target Western interests, held accountable for the "war launched against Islamic faith."
The growing situation in Africa becomes more and more confused throughout the whole region where the impact of Boko Haram, the Nigerian-based terrorist organization, remains perceptible.
