LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - If you believe advertisements and soap opera logic, the world revolves around being in a relationship - but we all know the truth: A relationship is a perk of life, not life itself.

God did create us to have a mate but that doesn't mean you'll find your true love at 16.

While you pray and wait for your future spouse to cross your path, Valentine's Day after Valentine's Day comes and goes and you're left wondering what to do while loving couples invade every public locale in the area.

Well, you're in luck! Here are seven great ways to spend your Valentine's Day this year:

Take Advantage

Every holiday comes with sales. Yes, if you wait until the day after Vday you'll get access to 50 percent off holiday-themed candies but if you choose to venture out on the day itself, you'll see certain specials at restaurants - eating outside peak hours might be best - clothing stores will have certain sales and maybe even your favorite nick-knack store will offer discounts!

Why stay inside when there's a world of shopping out there? If you prefer to stay indoors to avoid foot traffic, remember you can always visit your favorite store online!

Friend Date

Some of the great deals offered on Valentine's Day are only available to couples, so grab a friend and hit the town! Reserve a couple's massage, spa date, or learn something new with couple's art or cooking classes!

Whatever you're into, it's always fun to go with a friend.

Spread the Love

So you're single and you realize you have a few single friends. You can sit at home binge-watching TV shows or you can send a special Secret Admirer Valentine to your friends!

Call up a few single friends and set up a Secret Santa-like gift exchange this Valentine's Day! Just throw everyone's names in a box, then draw names! Do something a secret admirer might do for that person, like send a bouquet of flowers to their doorstep, buy them chocolates or even gifts you know they'll love!

Galentine's Day

Galentine's Day (NBC).

Celebrate "Galentine's Day"

Galentine's Day was introduced by character Leslie Knope on TV show "Parks and Recreation."

You celebrate Galentine's Day the day before Valentine's Day and you invite all your favorite gals, whether they be your mother, sisters, friends, coworkers, classmates, or the lovely lady at the coffee shop!

Throw a great party for women only and remind each guest to bring a gift for an exchange! Dance, eat, drink, share your favorite things in life and have a blast!

Unplug

Valentine's Day is a time to celebrate love, right? So why not spend the day without TV, radio, your phone or a tablet?

Use the day to talk to your very first love - God.

Spend a few minutes every hour on the hour thanking God for everything he's blessed you with this year and pray for the mate he has for you. Pray for your friends and family, for your job and even pets. Take a few moments to read through your favorite Bible passages and relax in his Holy presence.

Tune In

Maybe unplugging isn't your thing - and that's okay! Spend the day eating all the junk food you want! Cook up your favorite snacks and watch your favorite movies or shows! Spend the entire day in your pajamas and do everything and anything you want!

Play with Kids

Okay, you know this amazing couple who would do anything for each other and their children - but you noticed they never get a date night anymore.

Do your friends or family members a solid and offer to babysit so they can enjoy one magical night away from home. Don't even ask to be compensated - you're giving them a gift of love and you get to enjoy their little angels.

Babysitting isn't the best idea for everyone but for those of you who love kids and want to give a special couple a special gift, go with it!

Just remember above all else: How you spend Valentine's Day doesn't define you. Being single doesn't either. Just live your life in good health and good times and all will be well!
