Bethany Hamilton survived a violent shark attack 12-years-ago.

After a long and anticipated wait, Bethany Hamilton has given birth to a baby boy. The inspirational surfer and her husband, Adam Dirks, enthusiastically shared with the world the adorable first pictures of their lovely bundle of joy.

Highlights

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - Bethany Hamilton, 25, and husband Adamn Dirks have welcomed a baby boy. They recently revealed on Twitter the first picture of the baby. Hamilton used the caption, "Blessed to welcome our son, Tobias, into the world! #stokedmomma."

Bethany's excitement leading up to her delivery was openly documented on social media. On April 24, she uploaded a photo of herself, flaunting her baby bump on the top of a hill captioning, "Morning hike with baby boy! #33weeks."

On May 2, another picture was uploaded featuring her and her baby bump surfing. She captioned it, "Cruisin #SurfsLikeAGirl #pregnantandsurfing @lieberfilms", drawing references to the bipoic she is currently filming.

Bethany recently noted she was putting the surf board away for a while, as she now finds it gradually challenging to climb stairs.

"It's been a pretty crazy last four months finding out that we're going to be parents. Life's kind of going to be changing and kind of just started to prep for bringing a new little being into the world," explained Hamilton in an interview announcing her pregnancy.

However, she also acknowledged that her missing arm could pose a challenge in this stage. "Motherhood with one arm, I kind of think about it. I kind of forget I have one arm, a squirming baby and changing diapers and just me could be really challenging," she said. "But I think how I live life now. I just adjust and adapt to different things and I'll find my own ways to take care of the baby."

When Bethany was 13-years-old, she lost her arm after a violent shark attack, that happened while she was surfing off the coast of Kauai. During the attack, she also lost 60 percent of her blood.

Bethany and her husband came in 3rd place on the 25th season of CBS' "The Amazing Race" last year.

Bethany is currently filming "Surfs Like A Girl," her biopic, with the filmmaker Aaron Lieber.
