The Islamic States has released a video threatening Pope Francis.

Highlights

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Notorious for their propaganda video footage, often featuring violent and gruesome cruelty or deadly threats, the Islamic State has once again promised violence against the "infidels," this time focusing in on the Holy Father.

In the footage, believed to be filmed in the Philippines, one of the terrorist organization's militants threatens to come to Rome as he tears up photographs of Pope Francis.

The jihadists are also shown destroying Catholic artifacts, including a statue of the Virgin Mary and a crucifix. The film then opens up to showing the ransacked church enveloped in flames.

"After all their efforts, it would be the religion of the cross that would be broken," exclaimed the featured fighter. "The Crusaders' enmity toward the Muslims only served to embolden a generation of youth."

The militants boasted about how they set free inmates from the Philippine jail. One of the released prisoners looked into the camera and stated, "Remember this, you kuffar [non-Muslims] - we will be in Rome, we will be in Rome, Inshallah [god willing]."

Please offer up your prayer for Pope Francis as his life is threatened by a terrorist organization who have killed thousands already.

We ask you, humbly: don't scroll away.
