Highlights

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - According to the Catholic News Agency, the Jubilee Year of Mercy will be honored with a display of documents proclaiming the jubilees from as far back as 1300.

The exhibition, titled "Holy Pilgrimage: The Jubilee Bulls from the Vatican Secret Archives" will be at the Opera Romana Pellegrinaggi.

The Vatican's Library has granted permission for Jubilee-related items to be on display, including bulls from the Chapter of St. Peter and the incunabula, both of which were printed before 1500 and have been carefully stores at the Biblioteca Casanatense.

Papal bulls are a form of authenticity for letters.

The exhibition will begin July 31 from 10am to 9pm at the Palazzo del Vicariato Vecchio on the Via della Pigna and each bull will be accompanied by English and Italian explanations of the historical context.

The Palazzo Vecchio contains a copy of Michelangelo's David statue and several statues in its adjacent Loggia dei Lanzi.

It boasts three courtyards, several halls and chambers. Art is on display in each area depicting a range of themes and colors.

The exhibition is special, as it will display bulls normally restricted solely to scholars and conservationists working within the Vatican Secret Archives.
