A woman joined a convent that required a strict vow of silence. The sisters were only permitted to speak two words per year.
After her first year, the Mother Superior calls Sister Mary into her office, and opens her ledger.
Sister Mary speaks, "Food bad."
The Mother Superior dutifully records her words and sends Sister Mary away.
After another year, Mother Superior sends for Sister Mary and asks for her next two words.
"Bed hard," Sister Mary says. These words are again recorded.
After her third year, Mother Superior opens her ledger again.
Sister Mary declares, "I quit!"
To which Mother Superior replies, "Well, it's about time, all you've done since you got here is complain!"
