LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - "Life is in God's hands. I have said to the Lord, 'You take care of me. But if it is your will that I die or something happens to me, I ask you only one favor: that it doesn't hurt. Because I am a real wimp when it comes to physical pain,'" he stated.

Although Pope Francis is able to make such light-hearted comments about his death, the fear is relevant. According to Daily Mail, there have been threats made by ISIS, who refer to the Pope as the "bearer of false truth," for months.

It is reported that an assassination plot to ignite explosives near the Pope during his visit in Manila was made but derailed by the Philippines military.

Some Italian prosecutors have also warned the Pope that the Mafia have considered lethal strikes on Francis, according to Daily Mail.

However, Francis explains that if "fanatics want to kill him, it is 'God's will.'"

The Pope also used his recent interview to talk about the horrors of drug trafficking naming people in such areas "slaves to drugs," and that children growing up in today's world live in a dangerous area of virtual relationships with too much information and not enough knowledge on what to do with it.
