MUNTINLUPA CITY, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - Israeli doctors removed a "totally huge" growth inside the uterus of a pregnant woman. The successful operation led to the birth of a healthy and full-term baby boy five months after the operation.

The 32-year old woman came to Sr. Oz Gavish at the end of her first trimester. The woman informed him about the mass in her uterus that was about six inches in diameter. Dr. Gavish is a senior physician at the Rabin Medical Center's Helen Scheneider Hospital for Women.

The mass inside the woman's uterus is believed to be a fibroid, known as a "subserous myoma," and was categorized as "totally huge." Gavish specializes in high-risk pregnancy, according to The Blaze.

According to the doctor, the woman looked like she "was in the middle of pregnancy." Danielle Skald was just 3-months pregnant when she met the doctor.

Gavish explained he was worried the fibroid would continue to grow, considering the woman was still in the beginning of her pregnancy. If the fibroid continued to grow, it would eventually push against her liver, intestines or even her diaphragm and cause her excruciating pain. Gavish immediately notified her of the consequences and asked her to decide what the next steps would be.

The woman had three options at the time - terminate the pregnancy and remove the fibroid during the process, "wait and see" what happens, or perform an operation during the pregnancy. The third choice was a big risk, but they all took the plunge. A surgery during pregnancy would not only cause risks to the child inside, but the life of the mother too.

At 16 weeks, the pain became excruciating and the fibroid was pushing against Skald's kidneys and liver. They decided to proceed with the operation with the several risks in mind.

The operation was a success, but it was clear the delivery of the child would be a Caesarian section. However, two days before the C-section was scheduled, Skald had a successful vaginal birth. Eli and Danielle Skald are now proud and lucky parents to a healthy baby boy.
