Researchers say, 'no.' But Christian believers believe so.

The Blood Moon will grace the skies this year on September 27-28, leading end-of-time believers speculating that the end of the world is drawing near.

MUNTINLUPA CITY, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - There will be blood -in the sky that is. A "blood moon" is a lunar eclipse where the full moon moves into Earth's shadow, resulting in a color change to a coppery red.

According to reports, the night of September 27-28 will showcase the "Blood Moon." To spectators, the phenomena simply refers to the color of the moon, however some Christian ministers believe it is the fourth and final eclipse in a "tetrad," an occurrence that features four consecutive total lunar eclipses, usually separated in six lunar months.
They believe it will fulfill a biblical prophecy of the apocalypse. The first three blood moons took place April 15, 2014, October 8, 2014 and April 4, 2015.
According to Christian minister John Hagee, the tetrad was a definite "signal being sent by God." This was showcased during the promotion of his 2013 book Four Blood Moons.
"The coming four blood moons points to a world-shaking event that will happen between April 2014 and October 2015," Hagee explained.

Biblical references were also referenced as proof of the upcoming apocalypse. In Joel 2:30-31, it reads, "And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord."
Revelations 6:12 narrates, "I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood."
Hagee's interpretations were quickly debunked by scientists and skeptics. Hagee was able to connect the blood moon to the Jewish Holidays and several significant events in Jewish history, however Patheo's Bob Seidensticker said that Hagee was vague on some points. He said, "I predict that John Hagee's prediction will fail in 2015 and the end will not come."
If this year's tetrad will not bring the earth to its end, the next one is expected in 2032.
