No longer little green men? Aliens may look more like us than traditionally believed
FREE Catholic Classes
People have been conditioned to believe extraterrestrial life, or aliens, will look nothing like us. Aliens are commonly shown with large heads on tiny bodies with a pair of saucer-like eyes. They have long, thin arms and limbs, with the number of fingers being more or less than five.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - However, one leading scientist explained that if ever we encounter aliens from outside Earth, they most likely will look very similar to humans.
"An area of biology which is becoming popular, perhaps too popular," explained Professor Simon Conway Morris of the University of Cambridge about his newly published book.
In "The Runes of Evolution," Morris poses a theory based on the principle of convergent evolution, claiming that most likely aliens will look like us if they come from Earth-like planets. The idea is that the makeup of the planet, which supports life, has the same pattern, which enables plants and animals to live and survive.
Although Professor Morris noted that these planets may not have life or any humanoid, the possibilities of having the same line of species and their characteristics is huge.
"If you want a fly there's only a few ways you can do that. If you want to swim, like a shark, there's only a few ways you can do that. If you want to invent warm-bloodedness, like birds and mammals, there's only a few ways to do that," he explained.
Although the information Morris presents can be seen as interesting by some, it is important to remember our one true creator, God, not evolution.
"I made the earth and created man on it; it was my hands that stretched out the heavens, and I commanded all their host." Isaiah 45:12 (ESV)
