LOS ANGELES, CA (Rise Above Health) - Well, I am starting to record Video Blogs for our Rise Above Health Blog. Here is my first, the introductory video that I took with my iPhone.

I was amazed at how easy this was to do. I set up my iPhone and used natural light coming in the patio doors. The sound quality was better than I expected. I will try recording a video with my laptop next in a different location in the house, to see if I can get a bit better lighting and not so much glare.

I will be bringing you Video Blogs on all sorts of health topics, and I hope everyone enjoys and learns something from them. Keep the comments coming, and I will try to tailor some videos to what you, my audience would like to see. The written word is wonderful, and I will still be writing, but I think the face to face video is somehow more endearing, so expect to see many more.

I hope you will watch and share the video's with your family, friends and neighbors.

My tip of the day:
Stop taking herbs before surgery. Some herbal supplements like St John's Wort, ginkgo biloba, garlic, ginger, ginseng and feverfew can cause increased bleeding during surgery, It is a good idea to stop taking all herbal supplements, at least two weeks before surgery, and inform your surgeon about your herbal use.

I believe that Faith can move mountains.

'Knowledge is Power' was a theme song lyric in one of my favorite childhood programs. Indeed, knowledge is a powerful tool and with it we can make right choices. Unfortunately, there's not much education going on in the gynecologist's office. And I'd even boldly ... continue reading

The Female Fertility Cycle Demystified

Image of Some women begin experiencing symptoms from the moment the fertilized egg implants in the uterus, whereas others may not notice any changes until well after the first month.

By by Tara K. E. Brelinsky

In part 1 of this post series, I covered how woman needs to reclaim her wholeness. Society has fractured woman into a collection of parts and in doing so it has allowed men to say in effect, I want you darling, but not your fill-in-the-blank.  From hair dye ... continue reading

Have you ever felt unworthy? Maybe you thought you weren't deserving of God's goodness because you know your past for what it is and are having trouble forgiving yourself, so how could you even begin to fathom that the God of the universe who created you and knows your ... continue reading

No Matter How Little We Have, There Is Always Someone Who Has Less Than Us

Image of No matter how little we think we have, there is always someone who has less than us.

As I walked outside into the cold December winter air, I was greeted by a familiar face, Mr. Roy. I don't know Roy's last name and in fact, I don't really know a lot about him, but I see him all the time - particularly outside of the Cathedral of the Incarnation ... continue reading
