LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (Catholic Online) - Singer Jordin Sparks posted a plea for "prayer warriors" to help her through some anxiety.

Sparks told Extra, "I'm coming into my own as a woman, artistically. I had to experience love and pain, doubt and fear and all of that stuff, and I feel I was able to put it all in a record."

Apparently the stresses of her artistic experiences have compounded into such anxiety the singer was unable to sleep. That is when pastor Rick Warren stepped in.

Rick Warren is a pastor for Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California and wrote the bestseller The Purpose Driven Life. He encouraged Sparks, telling her he was praying for her and to focus on God's love.

Since the death of his son Matthew in 2013, Warren and his wife Kay have been encouraging churches to be more open about confronting mental illnesses. The Warrens are hosting a conference in October to bring more attention to mental health issues. The conference is called "The Gathering on Mental Health & the Church."

It comes as no surprise that a man so interested in mental illness would comment on a popular singer's concerns with anxiety.

Sparks' latest album, Right Here, Right Now, was released August 21. She said, "I use my voice in a different way, it's a little softer, I get to use my falsetto in some songs, there's some vibey songs, turn up songs, some get ready to go to the club songs."
