Bulletproof backpack sales are soaring.

ORLANDO, FL (Catholic Online) - Bullet Blocker's vice president, Elmar Uy said they normally sell 10-15 packs per week, but since last week, they have been selling from 50 to 100 per day.

There are several companies that sell similar items, all pledging to stop a bullet in the event of a rampage.

The backpacks retail between $200 and $500 and weigh less than a pound. They are often made of military-grade materials.

The entire concept is a tragedy in itself.

School boards should hire veterans to teach and as maintenance. Arm them and require administration to attend a boot camp where they learn to shoot people who are trying to kill children.
If there had been an armed adult to defend the children present in the school, not waiting on police so many minutes away, the tragedy probably wouldn't have been so horriendous.
