GLAAD Sets Up Ministry of Propaganda to Silence Opponents of Homosexual Agenda

In a sign of their growing intolerance of people who hold positions other than those of the Homosexual Cultural Revolution, the Media Watchdog Organization "GLAAD" (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) has issued a blacklist of commentators. This effort is called the "Commentator Accountability Project". The blacklist includes some people I know and admire. It also includes some of my favorite commentators in both the Catholic and evangelical protestant communities. For example, both Robert George and Chuck Colson have been blacklisted.

We will not be censored from sharing the truth about the dignity of every human life or the truth about marriage and the family and society founded upon it. GLAAD will not succeed in curtailing our right to contend in the Public Square for the truth.

NEW YORK,NY (Catholic online) - In a sign of their growing intolerance of people who hold positions other than those of the Homosexual Cultural Revolution, the Media Watchdog Organization which calls itself "GLAAD" (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) has issued a blacklist of commentators.

This effort is called the "Commentator Accountability Project". The blacklist includes some people I know and admire. It also includes some of my favorite commentators, in both the Catholic and evangelical protestant communities. For example, both Robert George and Chuck Colson have been blacklisted.

The effort recruits likeminded parties to "spy". They are asked to send reports in to GLAAD if these commentators are featured in local media. GLAAD will then pressure the media sources to not feature their writing. In effect, the organization has established a ministry of propaganda. Its purpose seems to be to ensure that only the positions of the Homosexual Equivalency movement are allowed to be read, heard or considered.

The response of Chuck Colson to being blacklisted is found in a March 16, 2012 BREAKPOINT Commentary. I commend it to our readers along with all of his commentaries. They can be read or listened to here. Chuck seemed surprised that he and Robert George made the list. I was not surprised at all. The intolerance of the homosexual equivalency activists in their assault on marriage is growing in ferocity. Chuck ends his comments with these insightful words:

"Their definition of "gay bashing" is skewed. For them, anything short of renouncing the historical Christian teaching on sexuality is akin to hate. If I say that homosexual sex is a sin, they say I'm hateful. Yet I also say that pre-marital sex is a sin, as is drinking too much. Is that hateful, too?"

"Over the years I have been very careful not to engage in gay-bashing. I can't think of a single time I have. I seek to honestly discuss the issues. So if any reporter has evidence of gay bashing on my part, I'd like to hear it. But again, I reject the notion that disagreement - even strong disagreement - is gay bashing or hateful. I can't speak for the others on this latest list, but I for one, will not be intimidated into silence. No matter what list I make!"

Not only must Chuck Colson not be silenced, we must support his right to speak. We must join our voices together and openly oppose this assault on a Free Press and growing threat to the rights secured by the First Amendment to the Bill of Rights of the US Constitution .

GLAAD's Commentator Accountability Project wants to silence disagreement with their positions. They hope to exclude our positions from being heard in the public debate. They do not want us to influence the positive/civil law. They oppose our defense of the normative nature of the two parent, heterosexual, marriage bound family.

First, they attempt to relegate our truth claims to being only "religious positions" in order to marginalize their ability to persuade. Then, they take the next step; they insist that these truth claims be confined to expression only within our Church Walls. When we insist on the Right to contend for our positions in the public square, they try to silence us.

We live in what Pope Benedict XVI properly called a "Dictatorship of Relativism." The relativists of this age have even managed to persuade some Catholics, and other Christians, that there are no objective truths; there are only "my" truths and "your" truths.

However, Catholic Christians insist that there is a Natural Law, "present in the heart of each man and established by reason." This law "is universal in its precepts and its authority extends to all men. It expresses the dignity of the person and determines the basis for his fundamental rights and duties." (CCC# 1956)

It is here we find the ground for our claim that there are moral truths which should inform our life together in a truly just and free society. It is here where we also find the fundamental and foundational human rights which we insist must be recognized by the civil or positive law as belonging to all men and women, from the moment of conception, throughout all of life, up to a natural death.

The Catholic position on homosexual sexual practices as objectively disordered and our opposition to efforts to undermine true marriage irritates the "Homosexual Equivalency Movement". I use that phrase to refer to the movement which calls what can never be a marriage a marriage and then wants to use use the Police Power of the State to force all of us to do the same.

We claim that the truth about marriage is revealed in the Natural Law ...

@ Christopher: actually, the 10% statistic isn't true. It's more like 3-4% of the US population that are attracted to their own sex. The homosexual liberals know they are outnumbered, vastly, so they pad the statistics in their favor. I bet within 10 yrs that 10% will rise to 15-20%.

@Vance, how can you saw that someone hates God, just because they are gay. That is an enormous assumption based on absolutely no facts. They can be against a Church teaching but that does not mean they hate God. You are playing a dangerous game Vance, trying to create division and exclusion towards homosexuals; that kind of thinking leads to segregation and containment camps.

For those of you who believe GLAAD is no big deal better think again. This is no "Live and Let Live" situation. The Liberal Establish wants your soul. They want you to accept and worship at the alter of Homosexuality. They Hate God, Jesus Christ, and Christianity because they are what God said they are - "A rebellion against me". They are at war against the Catholic Church for that reason.

Re Muslims and birth rate (wriring from Europe here) the tendency seems to be that second generation Muslims more or less adopt the habits if the prevailing culture, i.e. those six kids of the first generation will themselves have the "mandatory" 1.5 kids and join the downward spiral. So continued immigration would be required to produce "Eurabia". Politicians are as lame here as anywhere else, so they might yet bring that about.
I would however draw attention to one positive thing the Muslims bring with them: on the matter of chastity, Muslim women put their nominally Christian sisters to shame. Chastity strengthens the marriage culture (a thing that is more or less ruined in Europe) and a strong marriage culture safeguards procreation. Europeans looking at the demographics a couple of hundred years hence may find that they owe Islam a vote of thanks for bringing a fresh supply of this precious and almost extinct virtue.

What did these blacklisters expect? They publicly bash 10% of the population saying that they are sinners and going to hell. How would you like it if they publicly insulted you for your personal "sins". GLAAD is just sticking up for themselves after being repeatedly bashed on.

Steve, you bring up very imprtant points regarding the Muslim population in Europe. Muslim families have on average 6 children and native European families have less then 2 children per family. What do you think will happen if this trend continues? Most Americans are completely clueless with regards to this trend. I would add though that I don't think the Muslims are completely immune to the ill effects of artificial birth control. In Iran for instance, the mullahs have been preaching birth control for quite some time and their birthrates are subsequently on par with Europe. I'd suspect that given the opportunity to indulge in pleasure without responsibility, they will go for it. They are, after all, human beings with the same basic tendencies.

"Gay" (as used in the article) is a politics or a lifestyle allied to that politics. "Homosexual" and "heterosexual" are sexual preferences.

Words are tools of thought and should be kept accurate and precise else thought is dulled.

It is a shame that there is such a thing as GLAAD,but there's no reason to fear them. All a religious person has to do is open the scriptures and read that homosexual activity is condemned everywhere in the Bible. No where does it say to tolerate it. It condemns it. I think that homosexual activists are making a failed last ditch stand because they see the tide is turning against them and soon. I don't feel sorry for them in their desperation because what they do and promote is evil. It was the homosexual SSA(brownshirts) who brought Hitler to power by bullying their opponents(Krytelnacht). When he had power he turned on them and they were the first ones exterminated by the SS(Night of the Long Knives). GLAAD had better hope they don't succeed in their own agenda. Are homosexuals so ignorant of history that they insist on repeating it?

Rutherford_M: Good point. I've met quite a few conservative gays who don't buy into the mentality of the activists trying to change the definition of marriage. Most of them tend to come from christian families and backgrounds, and they carry with them pro-life sensibilities.
This issue of GLAAD targeting specific speakers who are contrary to their ideals is reminiscent of the Church of Scientology's methods against agitators of their beliefs (particularly those who leave Scientology). Any organization that fears and blacklists dissenting views only establishes that their foundation of beliefs are easily shaken and dismissed. Keep living as faithful Christians to the teachings of Christ.
