Rev. Ragsdale Goes to Congress: Time to Expose Counterfeit 'Christianity'
The unbroken teaching of the Christian Church has been - and continues to be - that every procured abortion is the taking of an innocent human life
Rev. Dr. Katherine Hancock Ragsdale is the "go to" witness these days for the radical abortion on demand lobby. She not only makes for good optics when she wears that clerical collar, she feigns outrage that anyone would attempt to stop any abortion for any reason. After all, she has now openly identified her position that abortion is a "blessing". She has the audacity to defend this position as consistent with the Christian faith she claims to profess. The early Church lived through similar examples of apostate leaders claiming the authority of the Church.

WASHINGTON,DC (Catholic Online) - On Thursday March 8, 2012, Rev. Dr. Katherine Hancock Ragsdale, the President and Dean of the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, appeared in a clerical collar to testify in the United States House of Representatives. Her testimony was an example of the counterfeit which now claims to be Christianity.
The Judiciary Committee on the Constitution was holding a hearing concerning a Bill introduced last summer entitled the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act (H.R. 2299) This legislation makes it an offense if an adult, "knowingly transports a minor across a State line, with the intent that such minor obtain an abortion, and thereby in fact abridges the right of a parent under a law requiring parental involvement in a minor's abortion decision, in force in the State where the minor resides."
Representative Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), a Democrat from New York, has publicly called the Bill an "assault to the reproductive rights of women." He and others who oppose the fundamental Human Right to Life of the Child in the womb presented witnesses to support their opposition to this legislation.
Among the witnesses was Rev. Dr. Katherine Hancock Ragsdale. She is the "go to" witness these days for the radical abortion on demand lobby.
When she was appointed Dean of the Episcopal Divinity School on March 30, 2009, she gave a sermon in which she said, "These are the two things I want you, please, to remember - abortion is a blessing and our work is not done. Let me hear you say it: abortion is a blessing and our work is not done. Abortion is a blessing and our work is not done. Abortion is a blessing and our work is not done."
In her testimony before Congress on Thursday she boasted of taking a 15 year old girl whom she had never met before for an abortion. She cited her vows as an Episcopal priest as authority for the act. She pledged that she would openly break such a law in the future if it was enacted.
She further attempted to clothe such a brazen act as noble and courageous. This woman regularly reminds me of these words from the Old Testament prophet Isaiah "Ah! Those who call evil good, and good evil, who change darkness to light, and light into darkness, who change bitter to sweet, and sweet into bitter." (Is. 5:20)
Last year she gave an address at a fundraiser for the "Jane Fund" of Central Massachusetts which proclaims on its web site, "CHOICE should not be limited to WOMEN who have MONEY... Our mission is to help women who cannot afford abortion services." This group offers her entire speech online for those who want a fuller example of her horrid rhetoric. It is an example of evil masquerading as good, espoused by one who claims to be a Christian and a member of the Clergy.
Here are some examples, "When a woman gets pregnant against her will and wants an abortion -- it's the violence that is the tragedy; the abortion is a blessing. When a woman might want to bear and raise a child but fears she can't afford to because she doesn't have access to healthcare or daycare or enough income to provide a home -- it's the lack of justice that is the tragedy; the abortion is a blessing. ."
"And, here's one that really gets me in trouble, when a woman simply gets pregnant unintentionally and decides this is not a good time for her to bear and care for a child -- there is no tragedy. The ability to enjoy healthy sexuality without risking a pregnancy that could derail her education or career, the development or exercise of the gifts God has given her, is a blessing."
In her speech at the Jane Fund fundraiser she signaled where she is leading the opponents of the fundamental Human Right to Life in her final charge: "Our words matter. Our strategies matter -- not only in their short-term efficacy but in their long term consequences. We have to play hard and play smart. We need to think farther down the road than the next bill in front of us.
"We must create a climate where abortion is not only a legal, safe, accessible, affordable option for every woman but where she can take advantage of that option without risking socially imposed guilt. It's time to be angry -- be fed up -- to refuse to be nice. To eschew conciliation."
The early Church lived through similar examples of apostate leaders claiming the authority of the Church. When the Apostle Paul traveled ...

Rob: No. What I do support is more deregulation on small businesses and our energy resources for a start. Do you know how many regulations Obama's comrade, Cass Sunstein, has bestowed on this country? Take a guess. God bless.
JoAnn, do you support further dereguation of the financial services sector?
H.(Bart) Vincelette
You dont think the homosexual community has an agenda? I would say everyone in this country has been engaged in some form of agenda or another. Especially if you are lobbying Congress for certain rights.
Im sure no one hates the Rev. but if the Rev is for Christ would Christ necessarily approve of her belief in abortion as a blessing? If that is so then if Herod and others had perscribed to this kind of tactic of abortion do you think they would have approved of this taking place for our Lord if they knew that Mary was going to give birth to the Messiah?
Do you think that the Lord would approve taking the life in the womb of any individual at any stage of developement?
I dont. Im going to have to answer for what I didnt do regarding this matter.
Say it is so and the Lord has all these aborted souls in Heaven. Do you think they would constitute being blood of the Martyrs as described in Revelation?
Just asking.
As one who grew up a contented Catholic & served as an altar boy for years back in the days of 'Dominus vobiscum'. I have only fond memories of church life. In the comments, however, I've noticed reference to a common falsehood used by conservative Protestant groups to further their agenda of hatred. I say hatred, because the phrase I'm referring to is not only misleading; it is designed to denigrate with innuendo. I'm disappointed that Catholics respecting church teachings & instructions would use such a term. With reference to homosexual persons; the term 'agenda' has never applied. The only agenda has been "peace on earth, good will towards man", along with legal equality of rights accorded all citizens. There is a parallel here with the Third Reich of 1930's Germany who used the same tactics against Jews, in claiming incessantly that The Jews of the world were responsible for all ills impacting society. The populace were constantly told that there was a Jewish "agenda", as if they had annual meetings to decide how to ruin humanity. Every accusation leveled against Jews was totally false, but people absorbed it readily & the results as history demonstrates; was catastrophic.Sancte Mater Ecclesia ; while registering disapproval, forbids the enabling of violence through defamation & slander.

Rob, the Marxist Media Complex has decided that Romney is going to be the candidate. The reason it hasn't happened yet is that Thinking People have a different point of view. In the days before Super-Pacs the Marxist Media controlled and fixed the game. "The People" are stubbornly deciding that they want Rick Santorum or Newt Gingrich. What I love about this primary season as opposed to past primary seasons is that the People are not following the establishment's orders. Example Left-wing and Fox News talking heads are showing anger at the 'Free Thinkers' because we are not falling in line. I love it. Yes, 'Free Thinkers'. This is a 19th century term used by anti-Christ atheists/Liberals/Commune'/Marxist who opposed the Catholic Church. The real 'Free Thinkers' are those opposed to the tyranny of socialism and communism.
Vance: Will you please explain to Rob who George Sosos is. I just don't have the energy anymore. Although, I do think Rob DOES know but...... God bless.
vance, this is the exact reason that the Citizens United case was such a terrible decision. You already see it in the GOP race and the impact the super pac's are having which are fronted by a few wealthy donors. The people's voice is being muted by all the money flowing to campaigns. And with no holds barred, no telling where all this lands. The people will be left with whatever choice those with money provide to us. And we are living in dream land if we think these folks don't want something for it. Government for the rich at it's finest.
Rob, Obama's latest Fund Raising dinner included a Long of Big Liberal Fat Cat CEO's. Yahoo is quite friendly to Obama BUT they did something out of the unusual. They posted the list of Rich Fat Cats AANNDD how much they donated. Everyone of them donated between $250,000 to $500,000.
George Soros is a money guy first and foremost. I am not suprised in the least bit that he would get behind Romney. Regrettably Obama has been very friendly to Wall Street, but I do think that they will pull out all the stops for Romney. He is one of their own. I can't imagine the damage they would cause with Romney as a president and a GOP supermajority. We almost didn't survive the last wall street debacle. Well I guess when you look at things, it's debatable whether we are really surviving. But Wall Street sure as heck is. No doubt about that.
People never cease to amaze me. Yes, the bible says these people will live among us (those who use the Word of God to promote their evil cause), but people of God will see through them. That does not make it easier to hear. The pain it must cause our Savior must be tremendous. I cannot even imagine it. I pray every day for them to open their eyes and ears to the truth. But, ultimately, it is up to them for we are all reponsible for out behavior.
