New York Legislature Undermines True Marriage, Family, Society and the Common Good

Republicans and Democrats equally share responsibility for this ruinous legislation and we as Catholics should hold all accountable for their actions

This issue has been framed as upholding marriage equality. This is not the case since one of the principal purposes of marriage is to bring new life into the world. This cannot happen in same-sex marriage. It is not a civil rights issue, but rather a human rights issue upholding the age-old understanding of marriage.Republicans and Democrats equally share responsibility for this ruinous legislation and we as Catholics should hold all accountable for their actions

ALBANY, NY (Catholic Online) - The Bishops of New York immediately responded to the regrettable and reprehenisble action taken against true marriage and the family and the society founded upon it on June 24, 2011. First, we offer the response from all of the Bishops of New York:

*****
Statement by the Bishops of New York

"The passage by the Legislature of a bill to alter radically and forever humanity's historic understanding of marriage leaves us deeply disappointed and troubled.

"We strongly uphold the Catholic Church's clear teaching that we always treat our homosexual brothers and sisters with respect, dignity and love. But we just as strongly affirm that marriage is the joining of one man and one woman in a lifelong, loving union that is open to children, ordered for the good of those children and the spouses themselves.

"This definition cannot change, though we realize that our beliefs about the nature of marriage will continue to be ridiculed, and that some will even now attempt to enact government sanctions against churches and religious organizations that preach these timeless truths.

"We worry that both marriage and the family will be undermined by this tragic presumption of government in passing this legislation that attempts to redefine these cornerstones of civilization.

"Our society must regain what it appears to have lost - a true understanding of the meaning and the place of marriage, as revealed by God, grounded in nature, and respected by America's foundational principles."

Next, the personal response from Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio of Brooklyn:

"Today, Governor Andrew Cuomo and the state legislature have deconstructed the single most important institution in human history. Republicans and Democrats alike succumbed to powerful political elites and have passed legislation that will undermine our families and as a consequence, our society.

"With this vote, Governor Cuomo has opened a new front in the culture wars that are tearing at the fabric of our nation. At a time when so many New Yorkers are struggling to stay in their homes and find jobs, we should be working together to solve these problems. However, the politicians have curried favor with wealthy donors who are proponents of a divisive agenda in order to advance their own careers and futures.

"What is needed in our state is leadership and not political gamesmanship.

"In light of these disturbing developments and in protest for this decision, I have asked all Catholic schools to refuse any distinction or honors bestowed upon them this year by the governor or any member of the legislature who voted to support this legislation. Furthermore, I have asked all pastors and principals to not invite any state legislator to speak or be present at any parish or school celebration.

"The above request is intended as a protest of the corrupt political process in New York State. More than half of all New Yorkers oppose this legislation. Yet, the governor and the state legislature have demonized people of faith, whether they be Muslims, Jews, or Christians, and identified them as bigots and prejudiced, and voted in favor of same-sex "marriage." It is mystifying that this bill would be passed on the last day of an extended session under the cover of darkness.

"This issue has been framed as upholding marriage equality. This is not the case since one of the principal purposes of marriage is to bring new life into the world. This cannot happen in same-sex marriage. It is not a civil rights issue, but rather a human rights issue upholding the age-old understanding of marriage. Our political leaders do not believe their own rhetoric. If they did, how in good conscience could they carve out any exemption for institutions that would be proponents of bigotry and prejudice?

"Republicans and Democrats equally share responsibility for this ruinous legislation and we as Catholics should hold all accountable for their actions."

I came back to this article in that there are posters here who claim homosexuality; as well one being a priest.
There has to be made note that a GOODLY..note PLEASE I did not say ALL........But a goodly number of these gay posters at this and other sites that are barbarically EVIL in that they will rage w/anger at a poster interiorly and act on it in malicious ways. I have heard and seen of many people whos computers have been hacked and wrecked due to their RIGHTFUL OPINIONS as given to us in OUR FREE SPEECH! YES right after posting an opinion opposing all these GLBT stuff being of such import and WRONG .Last I knew we still had those words in the constitution! 'FREE SPEECH' Not only to be used by radical homosexuals for their agenda BUT by ALL. There is also this palpable HATE of anyone who calls a spade a spade, ya all get what I am saying. YES its an age old 'slang' for calling something AS IT IS. Way way to many GLBT have taken to bullying, yes bullying and even VILE EVIL ACTS OF PUNISHMENT to those who voice opposition including MURDER.....YES I said that~ It is a mighty darn shame that this nation has sunk to the bowels of hell, yet we must see it for what it is and SPEAK UP. Enough you scardy cats out there who hide away and NOT whisper a word on these type posts out of sheer FEAR! That is truly pathetic, when the Lord makes his return what side do you wish to be on, the RIGHT or the Left? Recall in scripture whereby it is said that at the end THE LORD will divide the peoples into two groups and the evil ones will be cast into hell. Something to think about eh?

God Bless but I have to disagree on one point Priests for Life and others who adhere to the Pro-Life Movement speak out against Contraception etc.

Check it out at Priests for Life.

Also check out The Catholic View for Women from EWTN they to also have spoken out on the subject. Humbly I ask many of you to send these two websites out to your friends and family for educational purposes. They may do their own research here on this subject and many more especially on the teachings of the Catholic Church.

I also blog at Jean'sBistro2010's for any information you also may need on the Catholic Teaching. I hope Im part of the New Evangelization as are many of us. My hope is my blog teaches this truth as well. God Bless to all.

If there is a moral equivalency already well established between contracepted marital acts and non-contracepted marital acts, why would we now be surprised that most people consider there to be a moral equivalency between heterosexual acts and homosexual acts? So much time is spent connecting homosexual behavior to all the bad health consequences, and no one bothers to point out how contraception has destroyed the relationships between men and women. And people might say, well, what people do in their own bedrooms is their own business. That isn't true. Our private behavior always has public consequences. Contraception teaches people to view others as something to be used for their own purposes, it teaches people that our actions have no consequences. Contraception teaches us that we can just pursue what we want (pleasure) and never have to pay the price (pregnancy). Contraception teaches us that we don't need to respect the true dignity of another person. Contraception teaches us we don't need to be faithful to another person. Contraception teaches us we can just take a pill or get a simple surgery and our lives will be instantly happy. I don't need to look into the bedrooms of my fellow Americans to know that they have learned these lessons well...just look at our economy, our politicians, our religious institutions...they all now reflect these principles. Maybe, if what we have done in our bedrooms has had such a huge influence on our culture, imagine what our society would look like if we as individuals started making the right decisions in our bedrooms. When our Catholic Bishops and leadership are willing to teach on how dangerous contraception is, then I think they will start to have credibility when they talk about the dangers of homosexual acts. It is much easier to pick on the "fringe" group of "crazy" homosexuals than it is to take on the outwardly nice looking heterosexual parishioners who have been militant for years now in protecting their own version of sexual deviancy.

Hasn't it dawned on anyone yet that the person claiming to be "Tim" and giving into perversion could possibly be an INFILTRATOR? I am mentioning this because it is stirring everyone up. Please note the number of anti-Catholics who come on this site!! Anyone who wishes to instill dissent into a group just has to act like the sheep, even though he is a wolf underneath. Wake up. Stand strong in your faith and let no one shake you! The ungodly are in the wrong and their time is limited. God have mercy on all the sinners and wrongdoers for they know not what they do!

Homosexuality is defined by sex. Heterosexuality is defined by God. Homosexuality is defined by a perverted sexual act. Were sex not involved the relationship could not be homo-sexual. We all have attractions for one another. What separates the righteous from the grave sinner is the latter choosing to engage in an unwarranted sexual act. Because homosexuality is defined by sex (right from the get-go), it will never be defined by marriage, love, children, and etc. May the love and mercy of God shine like a rainbow on our brothers and sisters struggling with sexual addiction/perversion. Same sex attraction (i.e., love for another human being) does not need to end in perverted sex. It can end in a friendship not defined by things of this world. Amen

One person with name Tim claims that he is a priest. What a foolish and ignorant human being If his e mail id is known I could give few lessons on Catholicism. He claims he is a catholic priest. So according to him one can enjoy sex in any fashion with any one and irrespective of any restrictions He has to found his own church with his wives and children

Hope Gov. A. Cuomo will be refused Holy Communion since he doesn't believe nor follow Christ.
    I hope he goes soon.
