Archbishop George Lucas, Defending Children from Death by Planned Parenthood
Women and their unborn children deserve better than to suffer the violence of abortion.
It is disturbing that Planned Parenthood of the Heartland has announced its intention to open a new center that will include among its "services" the killing of unborn children through abortion. It is particularly ironic that Planned Parenthood is now proposing to increase the possibility of violent attacks on innocent human life, attacks that are no less harmful to the life of our community even though they remain largely hidden from view.
Archbishop George J. Lucas is the fifth archbishop and tenth to lead the Archdiocese of Omaha. He was named Archbishop of Omaha on June 3, 2009 after serving nearly 10 years in the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois. He was ordained a bishop on December 14, 1999 and installed on July 22, 2009.
OMAHA, NE (Catholic Online) - Planned Parenthood announced in June that they will open a new 'facility' in which they will kill children in the womb through procured abortion. It will be built at 3105 N. 93rd St., Omaha, Nebraska. It will be completed by the end of the year. They call the place a "clinic" and point out that in addition to the killing of children they will offer "cancer screenings, annual exams, birth control, adoption referrals, educational material and other services."
Planned Parenthood is built on a lie. They dress themselves up as a "Health Care Provider" while they include the taking of the lives of innocent children in the womb as a "reproductive service". They have insinuated themselves into the global delivery of "medical services" and receive massive Federal government funding. There is nothing "reproductive" about abortion; it always kills a human person. It is not a service to the child, the mother, the father or society. Nor is it "health care". It is feticide. Funding it is morally repugnant. Extracting Tax Dollars from us to do it is maddening.
Jill June is the CEO of "Planned Parenthood of the Heartland", the organization under the Planned Parenthood umbrella which will build the facility and engage in the nefarious acts which will take place there. She told the local Press on Tuesday July 27, 2010, "We are continuing full speed ahead with our plan to build a beautiful Planned Parenthood clinic for the people of Omaha. Abortion has been a legal medical service in the United States for well over 30 years. And it is important that women have access to safe and legal abortions because when they do not, they suffer and die from illegal and unsafe abortions."
Ms. June was put on the defensive by the courageous and blunt words of Archbishop George Lucas of the Archdiocese of Omaha. He is speaking out against the building of this horrid facility and not mincing words. He has also called the faithful to prayer and action. He is a true shepherd, a defender of the children, who is not afraid to confront the Culture of Death. Ms. June referred to the Archbishops words as "very harsh rhetoric".
Of course, reaching into the first home of the whole human race with chemical weapons, deadly suction devices and surgical strikes in order to kill living human persons, our youngest neighbors, and thereby deny them their fundamental Human Right to Life is not "harsh" to the denizens of death on demand like Ms. June who lead the operation called Planned Parenthood.

He was named Archbishop of Omaha on June 3, 2009 after serving nearly 10 years in the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois. On Planned Parenthood of the Heartland's intention to open an abortion center in Omaha
Archbishop George J. Lucas
"It is profoundly disturbing that Planned Parenthood of the Heartland has announced its intention to open a new center at 3105 N. 93rd Street in Omaha that will include among its services the killing of unborn children through abortion. So many people of good will in Omaha have become involved in efforts to reduce violence in our community.
"It is particularly ironic that Planned Parenthood is now proposing to increase the possibility of violent attacks on innocent human life, attacks that are no less harmful to the life of our community even though they remain largely hidden from view.
"Women and their unborn children deserve better than to suffer the violence of abortion. As a caring community, we can offer them a compassionate alternative. I invite any woman who might be considering abortion to turn first to the loving and supportive care of the pro-life pregnancy help centers in the Omaha area. These include Catholic Charities, Essential Pregnancy Services, A Woman's Touch, AAA Crisis Pregnancy Center, Bethlehem House and Gabriel's Corner (in Council Bluffs).
"I also encourage Catholics and all women and men of good will in Omaha to oppose the opening of this abortion facility. Nebraskans United for Life has created a petition (the petitions have been distributed to all parishes in Omaha) to express opposition to this proposal to our elected officials. Nebraskans United for Life is also organizing a prayer vigil at the location of the planned abortion center on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 1 pm.
"I plan to be there, and I invite you to join me. Make your voice heard in opposition to the efforts of Planned Parenthood to expand the culture of violence and death in Omaha. Please pray for a greater respect for all human life, from conception to natural death."
*****
The Rev. Joseph Taphorn is the chancellor of the Archdiocese of Omaha. Asked for a response to Ms. June's characterization of the Archbishops words he told the local Press "I think the statement is clear. Abortion is a procedure that kills children. And there is no nice way to say that because it's not a nice procedure. It's a very violent procedure."
Catholic Online applauds the courageous statement and action taken by Archbishop George Lucas. Courageous leadership influences others to respond accordingly. That is evident in the words of the good Bishops Chancellor. We invite our readers around the globe to pray for the Archbishop and all who stand with him against the evil of killing children. He is the man of the hour.

I actually feel sorry for these poor misled individuals who foster abortion. Do they not know that they will suffer the same pain that they inflict on the helpless children that come under their ministrations? This evidence has come from persons who experienced NDEs. Poor, blind fools.
A misguided mind suffers the deprivation of the Truth. The Truth is Human is sacred, too precious to tamper with. The perpetrators of this dastardly act should ask themselves this" IF I HAD BEEN MURDERED BY MY MUM IN THE WOMB, WOULD I HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO LIVE"
Planned Parenthood? How dare these people use the word "parent" in their description of the unspeakable things they promote and practice. It is in fact "Planned Insanity"! I,m glad the address of this place was included in this article. They will be hearing from me. In at least one way, I'm like Father John Corapi - I don't hold back on what I believe to be the truth, and I will get my message across to them. As Jennifer mentioned in one of her very fine articles, we need to shut this group down. We also need to keep praying for the wondeful efforts of Father Frank Pavone. As Roger stated, I do have a sense of sorrow for these deluded people in Planned "Parenthood",however, they need to see the light quickly and repent.
I am outraged to hear Planned Parenthood is building another facility of death in Omaha. I believe that people should pay taxes to pay for the military services the government provides for our safety, but have long been trying to figure out how to not have my tax dollars go to pay for these abortion clinics. Now with the health care bill passed, I believe more and more of these "health clinics" will open, and we have no choice but to just accept it (other than prayer). I guess we have to live by Jesus' words, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's." Our Dear Lord knows what is in my heart. I know it sickens me to even think about what happens in these clinics, I can't even imagine how our Lord feels witnessing what His creation is doing to the innocent. Lord have mercy.
Nebraska, the bread basket of the mid-west, bread represents life, like the eucharist, yet the culture of death is present there, perplexing, people of the mid-west, salt of the earth, yet this can be allowed? God will not continue to bless a nation that has taken the lives of 53 million, chastisement??
I suppose it is easier and more gratifying to attack the health care providers then the women who are in the very difficult position of considering an abortion. It must be fun to call doctors and women murders and evil. And I suppose it is even easier to attack those women, then to help them in their time of need. Oh, how the church has fallen, from a institution dedicated to helping the poor and down to an institution dedicated to pushing political agendas. Oh where is the shame?
God bless Archbishop Lucas! I wish we had ALL of our Bishops like him. I wish the Bishop of my diocese in Monterey would join our Pro-Life prayer groups who stand in front of Planned Parenthood Killing machines, hold signs, and pray rosaries. I won't hold my breath. I encourage all Catholics to take an HOUR of time during the week to stand on the side walk in front of an abortion clinic and hold up a sign. You can make your own signs easily. Buy a poster board and a marking pen. Don't be affraid or embarrassed. You will be pleasently surprised how many horns will honk and thumbs up supporting you. This is doing God's work. God bless.
Well, there goes Robert again. Abortion is NOT a political issue - it is all about being the murder of the unborn!!! The Catholic Church has numerous programs and facilities to attend to women, who are blessed with a child, and want to take advantage of those programs - www.priestsforlife.org is a wonderful source for obtaining the names of facilities who are eagerly waiting to respond to the needs of women in need.. Where is the shame you ask - ask Obama and Pelosi.
Robert, it seems you have a lot of compassion for Planned Parenthood and the women considering abortions. But, do you have any compassion for the voiceless unborn? Do you feel bad for the 48 million killed since 1973? Does it bother you that we are creating a ticking demographic and economic time bomb by killing the unborn in the name of convenience. I encourage everyone to open their eyes to what we have done: http://www.demographicwinter.com/index.html
It is good to see the stand taken by Archbishop Lucas and Father Taphorn. Omaha is a pretty Catholic town and I hope the people will follow these good leaders and show up at the prayer vigil Saturday. The article prompts a question in my mind-- Jill June calls the clinic beautiful and says that it is for the people of Omaha... I think the clinic is not for the people of Omaha, but it is for the profiteers of abortion. Makes me wonder what the money trail says about who this facility is for - what happens to Planned Parenthood money engendered in any town anywhere? I know there are salaries for staff workers and abortionists, but there is a good margin of profit for PP-- do they even claim that they somehow plow those profits back into the local area where they operate? as an added thought "Oh Roger" sigh you know how the term "kleenex" came to stand for all the tissues we use as hankies? maybe "oh Roger" can come to express the unutterable fatigue that comes from having good discussion undermined by comments like Rogers...
Robert, I think you forgot to read this paragraph from the bishop's letter: Women and their unborn children deserve better than to suffer the violence of abortion. Also, if you could please explain how the pro-life cause benefits the Catholic Church other than saving human lives I would appreciate it.
i'm sorry.I sighed "Oh Roger" I meant "Oh Robert"
To Robert, I respectfully disagree with your statment that the Church does nothing to help these women in their time of need. What of Crisis Pregnancy Centers, which are generally affiliated with Christian organizations (like Heartbeat International)?
I have Just Prayed the prayer given to the Catholic world by Pope Leo XIII.
Having been raised in Sioux City just north of Omaha, I am ashamed that the great city of Omaha would permit such a "business" to open it's doors to such a heinous and anti God establishment. May God have mercy on those who allowed this heinous establishment of torture and murder for the unborn gifts of God..
God bless you, Archbishop Lucas! Pax Christi!!! We must stand in unity, praying outside of these abortion facilities. Hopefully, Omaha is going to participate in 40 Days for Life! It is a beautiful community effort of prayer, fasting, and community outreach. Prayer warriors sign up online and then stand "at Calvary", praying outside of the abortion mill. Many Planned Parenthood clinics have closed, workers have quit, women have had conversions...saving the babies. A personal note to Edward: The exorcism prayer from Leo XIII is explicitly for priests to pray. We, as laity, are to pray the "binding prayers" that are given in Father Thomas Eutenauer's latest book on the demonic abortion industry. I have been praying and doing sidewalk counseling with many other faithful Catholics in front of two clinics in our city for about five years. Yes, it's hard to go, but Jesus Christ has already won the battle. We just have to "SHOW UP" and PRAY and speak His Truth!
@Michael Russell, Well said. The notion of this group planning "Parenthood" is exactly backward. They "plan" multiple assassinations of the innocent using sharp tools to cut them apart, sometimes not-so-sharp tools to pull them apart (dismember them either way), corrosive chemicals. This has gone far enough. Just get these unfortunate people out of here. First stop, the confessional.
