Catholic League: Obamas Would Like to Neuter Christmas

NEW YORK, NY (Catholic League) - In Sunday's New York Times, there was an article about White House social secretary Desirée Rogers. In it, reporter Sheryl Gay Stolberg wrote:

“When former social secretaries gave a luncheon to welcome Ms. Rogers earlier this year, one participant said, she surprised them by suggesting the Obamas were planning a ‘non-religious Christmas….’”

This same participant said that “the Obamas did not intend to put the manger scene on display” (this was confirmed by the White House). Indeed, as Stolberg wrote, “there had been internal discussions about making Christmas more inclusive and whether to display the crèche.”

Catholic League president Bill Donohue addressed this issue:

"Unlike almost all Americans—including atheists—the Obamas do not give their children Christmas gifts. We know this because Barack bragged about this last year to People magazine.

So it should come as no big surprise that he and his wife would like to neuter Christmas in the White House.

That’s their natural step—to ban the public display of Christian symbols. Have any doubts?

Last April, Georgetown University was ordered to put a drape over the name of Jesus as a condition of the president speaking there.

If the Obamas want to deprive their children of celebrating Christmas, that is their business. It is the business of the public to hold them accountable for the way they celebrate Christmas in the White House.

We know one thing for sure: no other administration ever entertained internal discussions on whether to display a nativity scene in the White House."

He pretended to be christian to get more votes during the election. I told my friends he was NOT a christian and they argued that in fact I was not being christian to accuse him so.

I was right and I knew it all along. I wouldn't care what religion he really was as long as he'd been honest about it. He was and is a big liar.

During the campaign Obama appeared to still be searching for his faith, and spoke most positively of his overseas Muslim roots and his antipathy towards 'dogma'...

If he doesn't want to celebrate Christmas, that's his and his family's choice. Personally, I feel that a good Christian should celebrate Christmas, and Christmas doesn't have to exclude non-Christians (besides celebrating Christ's birth, it's also a time of gathering of family, friends, and neighbors to share love and to give), but there's no law stating that the President must be Christian.

Well, according to published reports, and subsequently left out of this article is that in the end, tradition did win out and the executive mansion is now decorated for the Christmas holiday, and the crèche is in its usual East Room spot.

A non religious Christmas in the Obama White House? This shouldn't be surprising... President Obama was sworn in 2 times. The first swearing in was questioned because Chief Justice Roberts erred with the words. So, to quote the White House press release that day "out of an abundance of caution", Obama was sworn in again later that evening...sans Bible. And now no religion in the White House...at Christmas. Frightening.

Obama was elected by the people, for the people and of the people, so why is he making anti-christ decisions that affect us all. The White House belongs to the people. We taxpayers even pay for the 26 personal staff members that his wife has for her "needs". We WILL keep Christ in Christmas and in our daily lives so Merry Christmas all and God Bless each and every one of us. Alleluia...

Christmas is and always will be one of my most meaningful holidays. The best gift is Jesus, who was born to save us. I feel sorry for him and his family.
