Jeb Bush, Catholic Convert. Will His Brother Convert?

Jeb Bush indicated he doesn’t think his older brother, former President George W. Bush, will convert to Catholicism.

NEW YORK, NY (The Deacons Bench) - After gobbling up tons of bandwidth over the Kennedys, let's now turn to the other side of the aisle, and another political dynasty, okay?

Rumblings about George W. Bush converting to Catholicism have been heard since before he left office.

And the other day, his brother had something to say about that:

"At Communion and Liberation’s annual Rimini Meeting last week, Jeb Bush, the former governor of Florida, spoke about why he decided to become a Catholic and of his opposition to those elected officials who think they should keep their faith “in a safety deposit box.”

"Bush also indicated he doesn’t think it’s likely his older brother, former President George W. Bush, will convert to Catholicism.

"Answering a question put to him after he had delivered a talk strongly critical of big government, Bush said what primarily attracted him to the faith were the “sacraments of the Catholic Church, the timeless nature of the message of the Catholic Church, and the fact that the Catholic Church believes in and acts on absolute truth as its foundational principles and doesn’t move with modern times as my former religion did.”

"A former Episcopalian who was received into the Church in 1995, Bush said, “In the United States many people think that to keep your faith, you need to put it into a safety deposit box if you’re an elected official until you finish your service as a public servant, and then you can go and get it back. I never thought that was appropriate.”

"Bush added, “As it relates to making decisions as a public leader, one’s faith should guide you. That’s not to say that every decision I made would be completely in keeping with the teachings of the Catholic Church, but it was a guide post that kept me out of trouble.”

He said there were “some instances” of controversy during his tenure as governor, which ran from 1998 to 2006, but he said he “tried to act on my faith as best as I could.”

"Asked whether his brother, former President George W. Bush, might appear at a future meeting, and perhaps as a Catholic, he replied, “That would be a great thing, but you won’t see him here as a Catholic — he’s pretty comfortable with his Methodist faith. I’d like him to come here though. It would be fun.”

    To Marcos and Mario
One day you will acknowledge that I am right. We do have a Constitution in America that a public servant swears on the Bible to uphold and we have laws to abide by. It is obvious that you are in agreement with illegals breaking the law to enter this country. You seem to be of the same persuasion. Why would you object to illegals waiting in line as others do from other countries to enter this country legally? As far as the American people are concerned, this agreement of open borders is still kept in secret. All we know is that 1.5 million illegals cross the border every year and they are not stopped. WOULD JESUS CONDONE ANYONE BREAKING THE LAW? WOULD JESUS CONDONE SENDING PEOPLE INTO BANKRUPTCY, LOSING THEIR HOMES AND RUINING THEIR LIVES TO SEND JOBS GLOBALLY? OUR LORD WOULD NEVER AGREE TO AFFLICTING ANYONE WITH PAIN AND SUFFERING FOR A PERSON'S OWN GAIN. Why do you think any leader would do that? Would you vote for a president who does not represent the people, but rather supports his own personal agenda? Do you have any idea what President Bush and President Obama have in common? Are you overlooking the Word of God by judging me? How could you be so sure that I don't spend many hours praying for this country, its leaders, its people and more? Facts are facts not judgement. Those who judge will surely be judged. God help you!

why do we need walls? Ms Kruger needs to re-think her catholic views on what she's written. This country is in a mess because of Mr Bush, but we have a new President that we need to convert to the Trinity. God Bless America, dedicated to the Immaculate Conception. Let us pray for our leaders and our Country.

    Jacqueline,

It is my opinion that your judgments of president George W. Bush are rather too personal. I invite you to pray for him if you disagree with his actions as president. I also invite you pray for wisdom and growth of your own. Our faith is based on Love, not judgements. Immigrants are God's children too. Peace be with you.

I give thanks to almighty God for the enlightenment granted to Jeb Bush for acknowledging the greatness within the Catholic Faith. However, George W. Bush, even though I voted for him, was a big disappointment. I feel that he sold his soul when he made the open border agreement with Canada and Mexico. This forms the North American Union and this was done behind our backs in secret. This is why George W. did not send back the illegals nor did he complete the wall nor did he do anything to beef up security on the Mexican border. In addition, George W. sent many middle class jobs globally for cheaper labor and sent millions of educated Americans into the unemployment lines losing their homes, self esteem, and in some cases their marriages and families. He needs much repentance and prayer because he betrayed his boss, the American People to appease his father who has preaced a one world order back in the 80's. May the Lord help him to repent with a contrite heart.

I will pray that George and Laura give serious consideration to joining the Church. They are good and decent people, and I'm sure they would be welcomed with open arms. Let's all pray for them.

I will pray for George and Laura to at least give serious thought to joining the Church. They are, indeed,

Tony Blair, Newt Gingrich, Jeb Bush, Bob Novak, etc. Those seriously seeking the truth, will eventually find it.
